Guess What's Missing From The (French) Normandy Museum?

Via the excellent french blogger, Dissident Frogman: (http://www.thedissidentfrogman.com/dacha/index.html)

Need another reason to despise the French? Check out these recent photos taken at the Musée Mémorial de la Bataille de Normandie (Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy) in Bayeux...

Aren't you the guy who wants people to stop bashing the US? A bit hypocritical, don't you think?

When have I asked anyone to stop U.S. bashing? I've only counter them.

This America vs. the French (and Germany, and whomever else) is starting to make me think of arguing schoolchildren. In the States, one hears about how furious Americans retaliated against French actions in the UN by uncorking bottles of French wine and pouring it down the toilet... hmmm. That's smart. Don't eat Brie or Cammembert! Don't eat truffles! I think it's too bad that the French have removed the presence of the American flag from their museum, and I do find it insulting, but I can kind of understand. I think we should put some French flags up for the help we received from them during the War for Independence. Perhaps that would help smooth their feathers.

I'm pissed. And in retaliation I'm not going to bang the au pere next door anymore. My wife telling me not to at gunpoint had nothing to do with it either. Did not.

rofl ... that's funny joe.

I saw this cartoon in the states about this french thing. There was this kid and his dad was trying to get him to do his "french" homework and the kid's refusing ... in the end the kid turns round to his dad and says "fine, i'll go and do my freedom homework" ... i found that pretty funny.

Honestly the French are major drama queens. You can't view history through current events. The American Flag deserves a place of honor in French museums for the amazing sacrifice during WW2. Period. For Chrissakes, it's Normandy! Don't they teach history in France? Like the desecration of the British cemetary a few months ago. I know it was a couple of ****heads with paint cans but if I ever caught those little bastards I'd make them train with the Para's just to get an idea that they should tighten the F*** up. That and make them stop wearing low rise jeans for men. *shudder*

I understand that thing are pretty much bad on all levers pertaining to our relationship with French and most of Europe...BUT THERE IS A LINE, A LINE THAT YOU DO NOT CROSS NO FREAKING MATTER WHAT HAPPEN!!! AND THAT'S DISGRACING THE DEATH.

I personally will never forget the helps the French gave us in the Revolutionary War, their Navy, their money and Lafayette were a great help. No matter what happen between our two countries, I will continue to honor that help, but to not remember and honor the sacrifice of thousands on Normandy and so forth is just wrong, very wrong, as far as I'm concern, that's the same is digging up their graves and defiling it!!! Geez...all they have to do is fly the freaking flag and show the damn pin...is that too much to ask for???

I mean...I don't care if you're anti-american or anti-whatever, which I am sure you aren't, but there are some thing you must respect, no matter what...and that is the death, ALWAYS RESPECT THE DEAD, NO MATTER WHAT!!!

they probably weren't selling anyway...

Your joke isn't exactly welcoming.

I have plenty of respect for the US soldiers who died to liberate continental europe. but I would never buy a little plastic american flag or a pin with the stars and stripes on, but then I wouldn't buy a french one either. would you buy a french flag? I think not.

I myself have never been to Normandy. But I suppose these Flag pins are bought up by American tourists coming to pay respect. Ones who want a momento to show that they were there. Arent a majority of the visitors there American?

The one with the flag pole could have easily been edited using photoshop. I aint believing anything unless I have some real proof. Like this is a museum, I dont think they would do something like that, but then again...their french. ;)

so when does the original poster of this come on and talk about how it was faked? The musuem claims to have no knowledge..

Anything to further ones cause....

What are you implying moron? That I faked the images when I supplied the website I got it from? If you can't tell if the pictures fake, thats your ignorance. I myself work with photoshop everyday. Being an art director at hewlett-packard's design group requires you so.

what are you INFERRING moron??? I never implied you faked anything.
Nice to know the people you direct are in such understanding and openminded hands....I have an open door policy..open the door so I can jump down your throat.

I imply nothing. I mean what I say and say what I mean

I only wonder what this has to do with anything.

WHat I intended to ask was why was it faked?? I was wondering if YOU (as the original poster) were ever going to mention to the people that actually believed those to be real pictures..that they are not. Surely with your extensive background with such graphics program you could explain how easily it could be done. And therefore are actually a sick idea of a joke.
WHat is the point. The whole thing was a joke a mocking satire....difficult to understand I'm sure.

..P.S.. is the forgiving and understanding attitude a training result of HP because it would explain a great deal about their service and support department.

What is really *off* is the number of people that immediately believe the musuem did this (and not just some knucklehead with the before mentioned website) and the reactions people have...

Theres no proof that these were faked nor is there any reason. If they wanted to fake it just to piss off Americans, I'm sure they would've come up with something along the lines of the faked Apollo moon landing.

FYI, the forgiving and understanding attitude is being Texan. I don't work in customer service so I can care less about the customers. :P

So is my understanding that correct that many here ( I know each person can only speak for themself) believe these photo's to be the real deal and that the musuem did in fact do this?

Just curious what people think..
