Great pictures , mate . Can you tell please couple of things ?

1)How does women incorporate within operational units ? There is high percentage of them amongst combatant units , that deployed in UN forces throwout the world ?
2)What are the weapons you guys are using ? I see in the picture AK-5 and KSP-90B . Are they any differenence between it and Minimi ? What is the sight on AK-5C ?

Care to share some of your thoughts about this exercise? Did you find Finnish MP's to be any good? (;)) What did you practice?

The second Finnish soldier from the right is the commander of the Guards Jaeger Regiment, btw. (or at least he sure looks like him...)

I dont have any statistics on the matter, but women are not barred from any service by gender, nor is there any form of (official) preferrential treatment apart from women being issued a small sum of cash on entrance to the armed forces. This money is intended for the purchase of whatever the ladies need in forms of brah's and tampons and so forth as the SDF does not supply this.
Female conscription is entirely voluntary as opposed to the mandatory basis for men, but as soon as a female has applied for military service, she is bound by law in the same way as for male recruits.
This has been applied since 2001, before that, the ladies had the option of terminating their military service within a month of its beginning, however this system is no longer put into practice.
There are women serving abroad in UN-related units, but they are very very few.

2)What are the weapons you guys are using ? I see in the picture AK-5 and KSP-90B . Are they any differenence between it and Minimi ? What is the sight on AK-5C ?

Yes, there are differences. All weapons supplied by Fabrique Nacional have in different ways been adapted to demands set by our rather unique sub-arctic climate, so some work has been done on materials used and tolerance levels for extreme cold and so forth.
As for operative differences, check out these two pics:

http://www.soldf.com/images/s_ksp90.jpg
Ksp 90 (Minimi)

http://www.soldf.com/images/s_ksp90b.jpg
Ksp 90B
The differences are basically the stock and a slight shortening of the barrel.

As for the second part of your question:
That is an AK5B, not AK5C. The sight on that weapon is a pretty standard SUSAT L9A1 sight. These are successively being phased out and will be replaced with the AK5C, which will be equiped with a rail for pretty much any sight you want. Ill check in later to see if I can score some pics on the new Aimpoint RD sight we have developed.

The AK5C is not featured in these pics as far as I can see, but I am in a hurry right now.

I have no idea, I wasnt part of that particular excercise. But from what I gather, the finnish MPs held up their pretty good rep.

I have a friend that was part of a similar excercise that simulated peacekeeping in an unmentioned country. 2 actors created a scenario where 2 patrols succesively stumbled upon a rape in progress.
The swedish guys did it all professionally and efficiently, arrested the culprit, and got a pretty good evaluation on it.

Our suomi brohters however, took the situation beyond seriousness and the transport that was to come pick up the culprit found him unconscious, wrapped around a tree and secured with insane amounts of gaffa tape.
One soldier in particular took a shine to the "victim", and when the exercise was called off, he offered to escort her home, "just in case that m0f0 shows up again..."

To my recollection only 1-5 percent of all military personell are women. That's pretty few compared to many other countries.

LMAO! rofl rofl

Hehe...Kaarti's MP's are a bit nuts. They aren't exactly know to be gentle, i.e. when I watched their POW-practises, I sometimes felt a bit sorry for the guy who played the POW. They're efficient above all.

He was propably in a so-called "sissilukko" around that tree. It's a kinda freaky, you put a guy to sit in a certain way around the tree, and he has like 2mins before his legs go numb, and after that he ain't going nowhere. It's extremely difficult to get off from the "sissilukko", even with your hands free, let alone, if tied up... ;)

Interesting, i´ve never spotted this one before.

The blue helmet cover is camouflage on the inside.
I thought it was just blue.
So when in need you can go all green! :D

Gardening gloves - smart bloke. Went on exerercise in an area where you had nettles, brambles, gorse, briars - everything in Europe that has a thorn or stings. My issue goretex lined leather gloves were useless - my mates gardening gloves performed better as well as being better for razor wire.

Yeah I guess. See in Balkans they used helmets that were painted blue.
