View Full Version : F15E Deployment Videos and Pictures
These are some videos and pictures from my Northern Watch deployment in 99' and OIF.
All the videos with the callsign SNAFU 7 are my jet. The videos with the callsign Nodder 7 are from one of my close friends who is now a pilot with Jet Blue. These videos are a great example of how much better the SNIPER pod is vs. the LANTIRN pod.

This last video is from Northern Watch. It wasn't released by the USAF, but its been on another site for a while now and I haven't been arrested so it shouldn't be a problem.:)
Pictures
1. Preparing for Roving Sands 97. My WSO in this picture is now a Brigadier General in the USAF.
2. An AGM-130 attached to my aircraft the day before we went into Iraq in 1999. The strike that went into Iraq that night from Incirlik was the first time the AGM-130 was used in combat.
3. My WSO took a picture of our flare/ chaff dispenser after we had been engaged by multiple SAMs on LLE after a NW strike. To give you an idea of how close we came that night, this picture is framed on my WSO office wall in his house.
4. The night we left for Al Udeid AFB before OIF in 2003.
5, 6 & 7. My bird getting some makeup a few weeks into OIF.
8. A 336th bird with my personal favorite noseart.

Tell me about it. They showed a vid of a strafe with the 20mm. You could practically see their facial expressions right before they went bye bye.
I saw many vids from our missions, but never got to download and keep any of them. BOOOO to them! You know, the usual "Classified except to UK, Canada, etc" crap.
I got engine runs and a few scrambles though. I'll dig them up and post some.

Very nice pictures and videos, thanks?
I have a question about the paintings (noseart): who decides what to paint? Can you decide because it's "your" plane? And is painting it part of your work or do you have to do it after work/in your spare time?

Great stuff! F-15E is no doubt one of the most interesting jets ever.

The best answer to this question is it depends. Most of the time on deployments there are more than one crew on each aircraft. For this reason sometimes the crews get together and decide on a noseart or sometimes the senior crew just puts what they want. We waited until we had been there for a little while before we put any makeup on the girls. The main reason being that the planes were just too damn busy early in OIF. (Hence the reason they already have a lot of kill markings on them.) Later in the conflict when we weren't as busy we painted them up. And yes we did this on our free time. The USAF definately didn't give us designated "painting time," and weren't fond of them being painted at all. For this reason it usually doesn't last long, but it all depends on your CO and who's around.

Nothing too special. You've probably got them same ones I do.
I'm going to check on some other videos and pictures to see if I can post them. Some people in the pictures are still active and some of the videos weren't released publicly.

Pogo how did your jet get off the ground with no chaff/flare mods in it???
The picture wasn't taken right after we landed.
Because:
1. Its daytime in the picture
2. We had to debrief as soon as we got out of the cockpit after those strikes
3. The ground crew would have been all over the plane as soon as we landed as we didn't have many planes with us on those deployments, and the planes we did have had to be ready for FastCAP and follow up strikes.
I have no idea when the exact time he took this picture was.

Not anymore. Good luck to him.
For almost a year I have been posing on this site as a retired pilot of the 336th Fighter Squadron of the USAF. I just want to offer up an apology to the USAF, 336th FS and to a certain pilot whose picture I used and claimed as myself. I made a mistake and have taken numerous steps to try to make it right before posting this message. I would just like to offer this up as a sincere apology.

When you listed your age as 37, and claimed to be "retired", I thought that was kind of odd, especialy since you had been a civvie long enough to establish a career flying top-of the-line corporate pocket-rockets.
I just assumed somebody checked your creds, and found them in order, and you were just another ex-zoomie with an over-inflated opinion of himself.
Who outed you, or did you just suddenly develop a guilty conscience?

He was 'outed' by the USAF pilot in question who contacted us privately on the matter and worked with the moderators to resolve the situation.
