A one-day fundraising drive billed as the second “money bomb” for Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul appears to be falling well short of its target — at least partly because of a dispute among his zealous base of online supporters.

The goal of the drive — patterned after the original money bomb that turned the Texas congressman from “Ron who?” to a surprise factor in the race — was to raise $2.5 million Friday.

But on the eve of the second bomb, pledges totaled only $230,000 — less than 10 percent of the goal — apparently because many Paul supporters were more enthusiastic about another haul planned for Dec. 16.

This was a mini-bomb. The atomic bomb will be detonate on December 16th.

I frequent the RP forums and never heard of the money bomb until lately, the mans raised over 10 million so far for this quarter and his goal is 12. Much better than the 5 million raised last quarter.

Whether you agree with him or not its pretty amazing what the man has accomplished so far.

This was a last-minute "hey, wouldn't it be neat if we did this" type of thing. The notice was a day or two, tops, which accounts for the failure. Wait for the 16th and then you'll see.

2008 will be fun, the better he will do the more the mainstream will try to discredit him as a lunatic. Just wait and see.
