Nice, hammer cocked and finger on the trigger.
But thats no problem for a 1337 dude like him. What with the great situational awareness he has inside that headgear.
Ha ha, just noticed. No visible bullets. lol. Normally I'd say this is a bad idea (empty gun in hand) But in this guys case I'll make an exception so that he doesn't accidently kill some kid who grabs his arm.

Are those .50cals fixed the the main gun barrel, as kind of a coax gun, or are they mounted on a swing mount like the loader's AAMG? If it's a coax, why/how do they use it? Does the Merkava not come with a 7.62mm coax? Does it give the gunner better accuracy with it?

Yugoslavian paratroopers used this weapon as their only and primary untill 1983, and im sure that they had lots and lots of ammo in stores, as did the East Germans, whose border Police used it for long as their only and primary weapon, and we all know that East Germans and Yugoslavians were big friends of Saddam in the 1980s, as where in fact about the rest of the world, not counting Iran and Israel. ;)
And also Saddam had a "thing" for German weapons, i think that you can all remember him shooting his Kar 98 in the air on several occasions. And also there has been lots of pictures of Stg 44:s found in Iraq, which leads me to belive that this weapon might actually been quite common in there. :)

I read on this very site that a lot of the stg44's have been found in Iraq in working condition. Someone said the Polish Airborne used them untill sometime in the mid 80's. So if I was in Iraq and it was waved in my face I would think about the situation, it probably fires.

I'm trying REAL hard to find a reason why this protest warranted recieving missle, tank-cannon, and machine gun fire?.
I see no weapons in this march, unlike other marches where weapons are brandished freely, why was this march in particular targeted?, and why was it targeted with such heavy weapons?.
For a long time I've wondered why the Palestinians have not learned from other non violent movements in India and S.Africa, since military means gain them little if anything.
All these strikes have accomplished is the creation of more radical Palestinians willing to die to revenge, and the further blackening of the IDF's image in my opinion.

Thank you for responding...very much.
As time goes on I have a tougher time understandng the never ending conflict there, and my heart aches for both sides in this pointless war without end.
I am not looking for a debate here and I hope this doesn’t lead to that (there are plenty of debates in other threads) though simply my opinion is even if we didn’t fire a single shot for our defense of Israel and even if we pulled out of the west bank and gaza, a lot of them would still be fighting.....so if you want to start to understand why it might be endless start from that starting point.
(I mean the conflict will end when we all jump in the sea  .....though don’t hold your breath waiting for us to voluntarily do that without a fight first to defend against that ;) )
And indeed my heart also goes out for both sides, well the innocents on that side (yes I know that some here cant understand that but thats their problem not mine) but that doesn’t mean that we cant go after those that want to do us harm and unfortunately they hide in those areas.
But again we don’t target civilians as I explained before!!
Shalom :(

For those who may be interested and who have a bit of a business streak in them a working stG44 goes for $6000 - $9000 (U.S.). if one was to travel to Iraq and buy a boatload of them, one could make a lot of money :D
http://www.users.qwest.net/~nwebb1/waffen.htm#stg44
It would be highly illegal. Any legal StG44 on the legal american market is imported before 86 or 68, and because the amount of legal transferable Stg44's are lower than the amount of people who wants to buy one, the price is sky-high.
Illegal importation of weapons of this kind to US is a federal crime, and you will spend many years in prison for it.

Would have to be through Mexico. IIRC, StG44's are considered prohibited weapons and any ones that are in the country are in the possession of those who have been grandfatherd for that class of firearm. A pity too, I love the rifle but I won't ever be able to own one :(

A Marine from 3rd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, is joined by an Iraqi child while providing security during a visit to a village near Camp Taqaddum, Iraq, on May 15, 2004. Marines and Navy medical personnel from the battalion, as well as other 1st Force Service Support Group units, visited the village in order to deliver fresh water, assess the people's medical needs and speak with the community's leadership about their concerns. A firefight a few kilometers away forced the Marines to cut their visit short to prevent any harm from coming to the village. Two days prior, Marines on a routine patrol outside the village stumbled upon what they believe to be the largest weapons cache unearthed in the Al Anbar Province this year. The reserve infantry battalion, based in Bridgeton, Mo., provides security to the camp.

I was watching a documentary about the athens games a few nights ago. Id be very surprised if the facilities are completed in time, and even more surprise if it goes off without security trouble, because frankly, the whole thing was rather rushed. I heard that US athletes will have their own PMC's for security as well.

Somebody asked above what the 'thing' was near the 'dangerous' end of the Australian F89 Minimi before. . .
It is a NAD (Night Aiming Device) mate. You'll see them attached to the right side of F88 Steyr recievers as well if you look close enough.
Hope that helps :)
