This is Andy Kaufman we're talking about. The guy would do something like that. I still don't know for sure.

Should probably wait until it shows up on CNN or something like that before passing judgment whether it's a hoax or not. On one hand, this is the sort of thing Kaufman would do, but on the other hand it's a bit extreme, even for him.

He played Latka Gravas on the 70's TV show Taxi. He also appeared on the very first episode of Saturday Night Live, just some trivia.

If this is true....WOW!!!!

If it is a hoax: Then it is not funny.

If it is real: Then it is bizarre.

Heh heh - Kaufman would be laughing his ass off to see this thread. It's a tribute to his wierd-ass sense of humor that we're all still scratching our heads about his death. I mean, how demented do you have to be to work as a busboy while you're a TV star?

The guy was a genius in his time, but was a deeply troubled man.

Sounds perfectly concievable

Blogspot: Response to Snopes (http://andykaufmanreturns.blogspot.com/)

I actually paid off the guy to write that snopes piece in order to stir up controversy.

Trust me, it's not easy being bigger than Jesus Christ right now. Everyone wants me on their show to make my first public television appearance. Which one would you guys suggest?

As far as the criticism in the snopes piece, all I can say is that in 5 years I will still be known as Andy Kaufman, the guy who pulled off the greatest comedy prank in the history of mankind, and the snopes guys will still be pointing out what's patently obvious to any semi-intelligent 13 year-old.

That being said, all the non-believers are still forgetting that they are dealing with a meta-prankster in me here. Just look at my record--I'm the kind of mad genius that would always leave you wondering. How boring would this be if it were plastered all over CNN and SNL and there were zero doubts left in any rational persons mind?

I would never be so dull as to leave my comic immortality up to such a lame and pathetic return to the screen.
