I love it when the water gets warmer, just about time for swimming for over 15 minutes without limbs falling off

With a BFA & no mag on his rifle, I think his ability to perform any security has been limited. Maybe training?

I don't know if bullets can "cold off" p-)
But these sure would if they could.

Defend this place from who? Only people crazy enough to be out there are Canadians, and they're sleeping off the playoff beers.

What is a BFA?

Blank firing attachment. A muzzle attachment to allow the rifle to function as normal when firing blanks, it limits the amount of gas allowed to exti the front of the barrel.

If hes performing security, why in the world would he need his firing adaptor? Last time I checked, we don't blank people to death...

Well, how long do you think those guys have to endure that bit of weather.
Max 2 hours before it's back to a warm comfortable cabin and a nice cup of tea.
As for normal temperatures on the sea in temperate and sub-arctic climates it can be quite cold well into early summer during the day and for most of they year during nighttime.
Like when I bought a book about German WW-2 E-boats some time ago (Osprey), the author seemed knowledgeable about the technical aspects of the boats, yet also appeared quite a landlubber somewhat clueless about the nature of the sea itself.

The lack of 30 rd mag and the BFA on the C7 is easily explained.

MEMO
PROTECTED
From: NDHQ Ottawa
To: Naval Reserve Unit Rubber Ducky CFB Freeze Your Buns Off, Butfuk Nfld

1-Due to the latest DND strategic rethink on defence priority spending ( translation Liberal budget cuts because we need the money to get re elected) and the fact that it has been declared by a Govt focus group as too violent for use by CF pers, 5.56mm ball ammunition is no longer available for the issue to units/individuals tasked with the defence of Canadian Harbours.

2- Said units are therefore to adhere to the new improvised temporary defensive measures as per Memorandum 10928476-349765BZ.

3- This states that the Blank Firing Attachment (NATO Stock # 10965-AS 786593) is to be used as a field expediant munition. Individuals are to attach the BFA to their service rifles C7 (NATO Stock # 10956-AT 786593) without screwing it in place.

4- In the event that said individual is forced to use their wpn in defence of Canadian territory from an individual or group that may (or then again may not, we must adhere to official govt policy re not offending anyone whose rights are protected under the charter and/or could sue and/or otherwise embarras the Govt.) present a threat. After challenging said individual and/or group and completing DND forms 108q-05785=097 & g=]-AF97SGDI532HK IN BOTH OFFICIAL LANGUAGES WITH APPROPRIATE COPIES, said individual is then authorised to use their wpn in the following manner.

5- They are to bring the wpn to the high port position and then rapidly swing in first a backward and then a forward motion as in the manner of a lacross stick. This rapid movement should allow the BFA which is not attached to the wpn to fly off of the wpn and towards the potential threat. Efforts should be made to ensure that the potential threat is not actually hit as this would again leave DND and NDHQ open to potential law suits.

6- As 5.56mm ammunition is no longer to be issued or in the sytem, all Magazines, 30 round plastic (NATO Stock # 4765342-af 578976) are to be hereforth sold to local surplus stores at best possible prices. Funds may be used by Commanders as they see fit (vacations for said Unit COs in the Caymans are suggested and in fact encouraged).

Yours faithfully,

R Admiral B Noseinpmsass MMM CD

Ya my buddy that was in the army told me that it used to get so cold that his guns rate of fire would be slow until the barrel heated up then he could shoot normally until he stopped using his weapon for a long period of time.

Sounds like he was using break-free oil when he should have been using carbon powder.

In winter ops/exs you always have to work the actions so it doesn't freeze up, first couple of rnds are always going to be a bit slow until its warmed up.
