If the role of Delta and what they do is more closely related to U.S. Army Special Operations, why do they work more with Rangers? For example, Somalia, Panama, Grenada, Iran, TF 11, 121, etc.
Someone told me it is because of the Rangers' light infantry support abilities. Since in those previously mentioned missions, the Rangers were there more for security.
Can someone please clarif this and hopefully not get mad at me for asking a Delta question? :)

Why do they work with Rangers , well who should they work with.
Both Rangers and Delta are considered SOF. Or are you being confused by SF and SOF types and meaning of the words and titles.
As in Somalia the Rangers were the main protection force for Delta's snatch and grab mission. The same in the Jessica Lynch show.

By U.S. Army Special Operations, I meant Green Berets.
Isn't their 'job description' more closely related to Delta's then Rangers'?
US Army Special Operations is an umbrella for Special Forces, Rangers, etc.
Green Berets/Special Forces have a different mission than that of the Rangers.

I read somewhere on the internets that Rangers were actually present in Iran during Operation Eagle Claw. I had always thought it was just Delta on the ground there. I think someone mentioned Chuck Norris and his Bike in the movie and the "Ranger motorcycle team" was brought up. Is this true?

The first night, three MC-130's Combat Talon were to fly to an barren spot in Iran and offload the Delta force men, Combat Controllers, and translators/truck drivers. Three EC-130's following the Combat Talon's would then land and prepare to refuel the Marine RH-53's flying in from the carrier USS Nimitz. Once the helicopters were refuled, they would fly the task force to a spot near the outskirts of Teheran and meet up with agents already in-country who would lead the operators to a safe house to await the assault the next night. The helicopters would fly to another site in-country and hide until called by the Delta operators.
On the second night, the MC-130's and EC-130's would again fly into the country, this time with 100 US Army Rangers troops, and head for Manzariyeh Airfield. The Rangers were to assault the field and hold it so that the two C-141's could land to ferry the hostages back home. The three AC-130's would be used to provide cover for the rangers at Manzariyeh, support Delta's assault, and to supress any attempts at action by the Iranian Air Force from nearby Mehrabad Airbase. Delta would assault the embassy and free the hostages, then rendevous with the helicopters in a nearby football stadium. They and the hostages would be flown to Manzariyeh Airfield and the waiting C-141's and then flown out of the country. All the aircraft but the eight helicopters would be flown back, the helicopters would be destroyed before leaving.

Delta started off in the era of airliner hijackings as a specialized unit to deal with them on the spot.
Forced entries and hostage rescue missions was their primary mission.
Incidents like the Munich Oly. triggered the creation and various plane hijackings were to be their mission including the Iranian seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.
Of course they are quite cross trained and capable of many other assignments. But being the first responders to U.S. plane hijackings and hostage situations in foreign countries is a primary DELTA mission.
Around those times 6-8 terrorist hijackings were happening yearly.
SWAT ; Special weapons and tactics.

Actually AZRON, Delta was created right after the Vietnam War. It was named and somewhat based off of the Special Forces Project DELTA, (yes it should be capitalized.) The founder, (Col. Beckwith) wanted it to be very much the same as the SAS after he took part in an exchange program. The originally desired role was not a SWAT tactical type unit but one that was versatile enought to be a tactical / unconventional unit that could do many things.
Someone needed to get back on topic. lol
