I'd say that the cavarly in the 1st and 6th photo are Parthian or Sasanian forces right?http://www.cais-soas.com/CAIS/Images2/Military/Sasanian_calibanarius__Standard_Bearer.bmp

Their helmets resemble these:

Artist reconstruction of a Sasanian helmet from the siege mines beneath Tower 19, Dura-Europos, in today Syria.
It is a rare find of Sasanian military archaeology, and also clearly a prototype for Roman helmets of the 4th century CE.

The rest of the pictures would be Achaemenidian soldiers and forces, right?

Wow, images from the past indeed! I guess this parade took place in 1970 or 1971, I remember I saw it on TV (black and white at the time ) when I was a kid. I'd never forgotten it, so thanks for posting the videos and piccies, good sir. You brought back fond memories.
@ Pars : indeed, Sassanian Clibanarii both.

Classy uniforms.
This was a great endeavour, and, as far as I know, has been imitated by no other country. Though it's hard to match 2500 of military tradition.
Thanks for teh pics and videos, you brightened my day .

Since the Parthian dynasty was the dynasty that was established after the demise of the Greek conquerors, they were of course also heavily influenced by Greek traditions. Something that this head bust clearly shows.
I visited the Iran Bastan Musuem in Tehran not long ago, I'll post some pictures. Sadly, nothing there matches the items in The Lovre or The British Museum.

Very impressive. When I was in high school, I would haunt the history museum with thoughts of one day being a archaeologist. Persia has a very impressive history.

Too bad shah didn’t allow ordinary Iranians to watch this parade . Only his foreign guests were allowed to view this magnificent parade . Stupid actions such as this lead to the downfall of his regime.

I hate this type of argument. Ordinary Iranians were able to watch on their TV screens, only royalty was present at the parade itself. This isn't that uncommon in the world you know. I don't see what the huge fuzz is about. Sure Mohammad Reza Shah did a lot of stupid things (like not killing the rat Khomeini when he had the chance), and he wasn't as strong a leader as his father had been. This was however in my opinion not one of the things that led to his downfall and the end of a 2500 year old monarchy.

Don’t get me wrong I hate the current regime but I also hate the shah for being too stupid to let these guys take over. You have to keep in mind that ordinary Iranians didn’t have access to a television set in those days. They didn’t live like people do today , most of them lived in villages in those days. He could of let the Iranian people watch the parade the day after his guests got the privilege to see this event.

Valid points. Thanks for the answer.
All in all, Mohammad Reza Shah wasn't a too good of a leader of you compare him with his father. I sometimes wished his sister who possessed some of the same strength as her father had succeeded him instead. Maybe things would have been different today if that was the case, or maybe the mullahs would have been too outraged by the fact that a female lead the country.

Second from the left is the deceased Norwegian King Olav V.
And the 5th from the left is the then Crown Prince, now King of Sweden, His Royal Highness Carl XVI Gustav.

Or if Reza Shah stayed in power and was not ousted.Reza Shah the great's resting place was destroyed after the 1979 revolution from orders of Khomeini.
But Mohammad Reza Shah was too weak as already said. Was not a strong leader like his father.

Of course. The Allies forced him to abdicate. Morons.
I can't wait for Khomeinis perverted tomb to be wiped off the face of the planet. I hate the fact that many Iranians actually worship a man who couldn't have cared less for Iran.
Sorry for the OT.

They started construction of his tomb right after the mullahs came to power. I remember driving from Arak to Tehran for work every week and seeing that construction sight but at the time I didn’t know they were building his tomb . It was only after his death they announced it was his but Khomaini himself planned out the location , design and everything which is pathetic .

No problem. I don’t know if you guys have been to Iran recently but Khomaini tomb has become more like a commercial shopping mall. They are building hotels , shops , and now have a metro line that comes right to his tomb. I have a lot of friends and family member buried in Beheshte Zahar so I have no choice but to see his tomb because it’s a huge structure that can be seen from every spot on Beheshte Zaharas cemerty and that’s exactly what Khomaini wanted. His son is also buried right next to him.

Yeah I was in Iran a week ago. Drove past that awful thing. Seems like they're trying to make it another Mecca or something.
