There are these great big metal things called cases, I think you should get one.

I'm gonna get me one of those sweet bigass Alienware jobs.
Why would you do that? They make you pay a fortune for just the case...

Cause it looks cool and I'm swimming in dough.
OK, not really. Actually I may ask Jack to build me one that's designed for huge graphic files etc.

It would cost you like $20 for a case minus your house is on fire with that cardboard case.
If you really want to get something special then just do it yourself. If you want use something for huge graphic files then it's pretty simple; fat CPU, huge amounts of memory, and not too shy on diskspace. Throw in a fat graphics card if you want to do 3D rendering. Then the case-modding is something you can do yourself. Seriously, modding a computer case (or even the internals) isn't really hard.

That's true...Didn't you see the "modding" I did on my "tower"??
btw...That's really NOT my computer...

Haiw, you might need dual CPUs and RAID if you want a kickass computer for graphic stuff.

So what's a good graphics card that wont break the bank??

That's not kickass...that's overkill. That's expensive. BTW I can see the sense in dual CPUs (though it's relatively expensive, especially since the rise in cost is less than the rise in performance) but why RAID? It's not like you'd need a superduper ultra-fast HD for graphics work (since it's pretty much only for storage)...

Depends... first you should throw up a coin to choose between ATI and nVidia. ;)

Many of my frieneds has such paper towers for "years" and nothing burned yet.... There are even comercialy available cardboard cases.

Joe middle class processor and lots of ram to store that big bitmaps without swaping them with hard disk swap file will do fine... If I were in your shoes I would think more about big monitor/lcd panel with good colors and geomtry and decent graphic card with ideal 2d than other ****...

If you are a professional graphic designer, you might need RAID 1(mirror) to back all your **** up. The cost of hard drive space is nothing compare to your work.
Oh yeah, having dual monitors is a must if you are a pro graphic designer.

Don constrain yourself cali , buy triple monitors so you can play those fancy flight simulators in th free time :)

Though I agreeon the multiple monitor thing, I think RAID 1 wouldn't be the best solution. Sure, it saves against hard-drive crashes, but if you get a virus on your system it still screws up both hard-drives at a time.
