Hope some of us gun owners (or future gun owners) can sign this.
This relates to the recent incident where the Supreme Court decided to actually hear the case about the DC gun ban...
No point of singing petitions. The SCOTUS will continue with the stare decisis of allowing individuals to bear arms, but also allowing the states to regulate.

well, I dunno, the courts haven't always followed tradition at times...
Please don't take this as a flame or an insult, but I can promise you that none of the 9 will even know that this happened. In the off chance that they do learn of it, it will have no bearing on their decision. It is a good intentioned effort though, but understand that it won't have any impact. The 9 are completely insulated from stuff like this.

agreed, intarweb petitions have no standing.
otherwise I would sign it, and drag my co-worker over by the ear to have him sign it, if necessary.

Interweb petitions have no standing of course. But even if they collected actual signatures, and made it real petitions, it too, would have no standing.
This is a legal case. It is not a democracy where everyone gets a vote and the person with the most supporters wins. It will be determined, on the law.
I should say also, that I know Second Amendment supporters mean well, but this is just not the way.

yes, quite. this is a Supreme Court case, not a bill in congress.
I suspect the outcome will be that the SC stikes down the DC law, but doesn't really leave a huge hole to go after other areas' restrictions, with the possible exceptions of NYC and Chicago, which are nearly as bad as DC.

I can reverse that last statement. "Loony hippies means well with all their big government mumy project and their naive goal of getting rid of every single gun on the planet. But government regulations just don't work."

the 2nd grants the right, but there should be more control to keep them outta the hands of criminals or those irresponsible. i think they should have someone who wants to buy a gun, take a respective educational course to prevent accidents before AND after a purchase. a pistol safety and education course if buy pistol, rifle course for rifle purchase, etc..

as a citizen, the kid could buy, but at what cost ??
the VT lunatic, columbine, all were prob bought under the 2nd.
i'm of age, but never handled a handgun, so after a few days wait, i can finally get my hands on one. i might take care of it, and cause some trouble.

no! a piece of paper does not give or grant you any rights! the "2nd amendment" is only telling you and your government of a preexisting god given birthright to self-defense against anyone but especially against psychopathic governments and their standing armies(and police)! yes the same standing army you all worship and the founding fathers feared and warned you about! and btw, your military never gave you any freedom nor will they ever do, a MILITIA(YOU!) gave you at least temporary freedom!
and if you want to control criminals, learn to take care of yourself and get a gun for self-defense and train with it! dont let politians do it for you because the same predatory street-level socio/psychopaths who carry illegal guns, are also found in your own government wearing suits and acting all nice and altruistic, they are called "successful psychpaths"...and the same psychopathic politicians and banksters want you, their prey, DISARMED!
Wherever standing armies are kept up, and when the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction.
