Interesting gun, I've read about it before but never saw pictures of it. thanks for sharing! One question: How did it end up in the UK?
edit: Ah, never mind. I just read it was a gift.
1500lb granite projectiles...whoa
Also found this interesting, still functional after 300 years!
These huge cannons were still present for duty more than 300 years later in 1807 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1807), when a Royal Navy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Navy) force appeared and commenced Dardanelles Operation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dardanelles_Operation). The ancient relics were filled with propellant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propellant) and projectiles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Projectile), then fired. Instead of exploding (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Explosion), they worked just as well as when they were new. One shot alone killed and wounded more than 60 sailors on one of the British (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom) ships (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship).[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Turkish_Bombard#_note-2)

In 1867, Abdülâziz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abd%C3%BCl%C3%A2ziz) gave Queen Victoria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_of_the_United_Kingdom) one of these impressive and historic weapons, which is now on display to visitors at the Tower of London (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tower_of_London)[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Turkish_Bombard#_note-3)
Queen Victoria gave us the world's largest Bohemian crystal chandelier, at the central hall of Dolmabahçe Palace.

Ah, don´t worry, nothing has changed. Nowadays you import the guns, back then you imported the gun maker (a Hungarian I believe) p-)p-)

Back in 1988/89 while working as an NDT (non-destructive testing) technician, we tested some of the castings for what was later identified as the Iraqi Supergun....Project Babylon.

Hate to break it to you, but according to the link you´re quoting from, your super gun was imported as well. Made in Hungary. :slap:
