I've never had a chance to fire a gun. :( My ex had a Sig Sauer (sp?), but he was afraid to put a loaded weapon in my hands. ;)

Excellent. I can't explain why, but I really would like to learn to fire a gun and go to a target range. What is it about firearms that appeals to you guys?

I was in the Military and have had handguns ever since. I don't have rifles os a shotgun thought.
Also, for anyone interested...The "Pre-Ban" law will be non existant on Sept 13, 2004...So, If you're in the market for a sweet M4, I would wait until then...

what do you mean?.....automatic weapons?.......i'm confused....and why does that pistol you got seem like it has 2 triggers. i don't know that much about guns and have only fired a few shotguns before.

It's not really an M4...but probably an AR15 in a carbine configuration. Even after the "Assault Weapons" ban sunets (fingers crossed :) ), you still need a Class III FFL to own an M4. Since it has A) select fire lower receiver and a B) short barrel.
I have a post-ban version. That suits me just fine. I would like to see a drop in price in the pre-ban rifles but I doubt we will see that. A smart manufacturer will probably offer both types and legitimize the more expensive one now that the see people are will to pay an additional 500 to 700 dollars for a pre-ban weapon.
Edit: You cannot legally own or purchase a Class III weapon without a Class III FFL. Exceptions are most but not ALL law enforcement officers...

Pre ban, post ban, we have no such regulations up here for AR15's....we can own any configuration. That said, it is classified as a restricted firearm which means you need to be licenced to own them (real easy to get) and you have to shoot them at certified gun ranges only. You guys are sooo lucky that you are able to take them hunting :( However, other goodies such as the AR180B and the Robinson Arms M96 are classified as non-restricted and they can be taken out where any hunting firearms can be taken. When it comes to magazines, we are only allowed to have a capacity of 5. Stupind Lieberal government party and their attempt to ban firearms in the Great White North :bash:

It all depends on what State you live in.
No State that I kknow of (and I could be wrong) allows you to hunt anything other than 'varmits" with an AR. A number of States (like Ohio) only allow shotgun and black powder hunting (with .22 and .17 for varmits). The population, in theory, is just too spread out out to shoot safely out in the open.
Pre-ban or Post-ban...some States do not allow ARs or many SARs in general. Take california for example. Have you ever seen a pump-action AK-47 with a five round welded magazine (you use stripper clips to feed). That is how you legally own an AK there...
Or a bolt action AR-15?
*sigh*

Luckily here all firearms laws are a federal matter, not a provincial. That said, the provinces have certain regulations that make shooting one's restricted firearms a hassle. The worst provinces are Ontario and Quebec for gun range regulations. The provinces also are able to regulate what cartridges can be used for hunting but the only places with major restrictions are the Eastern provinces. Out West one can go varmit hunting with whatever you want. Some have taken out their .300 mags to shoot gophers for ****s and giggles and its totally legal.
I do agree with you that some of the laws in both nations make no sense at all. When I talk to people up here about the guns laws, one thing I tell them is to throw common sense out of the window right off the bat.
Stupid politicians.......

yeah many there are a bunch of people scared to death of guns, yet they have never even seen a real gun, but they have family members who died in car accidents and still speed on the highway.
