Has anyone used one of their jackets? I have a boonie from them and it seems nice quality. Just curious on the quality and fit of their jackets...

I have used their KSK jacket (black). Quality is top-notch and fit is superb. The jacket has all the right features: adjustable hood with wired peak, easily-accessible pocket, venting pit zips, velcro wrist tabs etc etc, and seems to be built to last. The jacket is 50/50 cotton/nylon ripstop, so it is not waterproof, although it'll survive a light shower. That, in my view, is its only drawback.

i have been using the tacgear softshell and i am very pleased. The finish has no flaws, the cut and materials are very good and keeps water away and breaths very well, the best soft shell i have ever had. It is a bit more bulky, the fabric has its weight, compared to my PCU5 softshell, but it keeps you much warmer than the PCU5. I have used it in snowy -3 to 0 celsius temperatures too, and with good warm base and mid layers it does the job of a regular hardshell, but ofcourse i would still wear a hardshell into heavy rain and snow...

but anyway it is money well spent and i do not even miss the hood, cos the high collar does a great job.

a highly recommended product

edit: hehe thisis my first post as a member after coming here for years...i congrat myself :D

I have also Tacgear Softshell - fabric -works very good even in -12 temperature - unfortunatelly - all cord elastic on the bottom of Jacket are broken after couple of weeks.

STOP PRESS

Tacgear have just come out with a Generation 2 KSK jacket, including one version with a waterproof membrane. Sounds interesting, ja.

BUMP

I'm looking at getting one of the new MkII Commando Jackets and wondered if anyone in here was using them? I only want it for bushwalking and stuff, not section attacks.

I have their new combat smock.
Lots of features, pockets everywhere and sometimes accessible from 2 sides. Reasonably built.

Like:
vent zips under arm pits
Spacious pockets
Usable chest pockets
Small details like D-rings in pockets, adjustable elastics on pockets
hood can be zipped off
dries quick

Dislike
not IRR treated
finishing of the inside of some pockets could be better.. I had some zippers eating up threads.
Should there really be that much velcro on the sleeves??

Cheers Mate, thats what I was looking for. IRR isn't a problem, velcro is covered by patches? I can fix up whatever else, I am sewing machine qualled. :)

Only problem left is the cost of the jacket and shipping :-(

TacGear has a bad reputation. Better stay away from it.

Otherwise it should be good enough for airsoft.

Anyone else got any ideas where to get a Swedish Cam jacket from?

Yes the velcro can be covered with patches, those are included.

Most tacgear items I have used have a reasonable quality. Maybe not as high-standard as Tactical tailor/paraclete/eagle but I will last in the real world. The softshell is still on my wannahave list. :-)

I can't understand out their MTS molle system though..

www.ranger-shop.de could be useful for you. They ship almost everywhere.

I've found a British store that has it pretty cheap and will ship to Australia, I've just got to justify spending that much money on a jacket I don't technically need :)

I know TacGear also. I don't have one of their jackets but I saw them and I know guys who wear them. I beleve Tercio67 has one. It seems like good stuff. Don´t buy an expensive one with membrane but a normal one with a railshield under it.

Indeed Tercio has one also... I believe it to be hanging in the closet next to mine... :-P

@StuRat: you will discover you had the need for it as soon as you have it. ;-)

I wonder why you see so much Tacgear-jacket und trousers on photos from ASTAN. Maybe they play only Airsoft in Astan, but I don't think so ...
Also you see planty Tacgear-Stuff here in Germany worn by real soldiers.

I have a softshell jacket since two years, it ist the best jacket I ever had.
Three or four month I bought a new Smock from Gen. 2 and now I sold my "old" Köhler. p-)

You also see them wearing Miltec for the same reason, it's cheaper than Sabre, GFL, etc. and mostly doesn't look like 08/15 (and by 08/15 I mean 37/10).

Alright, but MilTec seems to enough for the majority.
My personal conspiracy theory ist that, the majority also didn't know that there is something like TG, GFL or Sabre and also they didn't need a smock really. They want some more comfortable than the "Parka" and will buy a smock.
They don't care about the lable, only the price is decisive. So they don't bought the cheapest and not the most expensive. TG is in the middle, so it's the choice.

The only thing I can't understand is:

TacGear has a bad reputation. Better stay away from it.
I personally only hear that from airsoft-player how don't use the gear really.

When I'm talking with comrades they didn't even know what they are wearing. But most likely they wear TG and they are satisfied with it.
