And we should be surprised because?
A film that has caused such a stir, like this one has, its inevitable that it would win.
Just like The Passion had so much controversy surrounding it, it made so much money.

Controversy breeds success for filmmakers and the press. Why do you think that news channels are always breaking some "exclusive controversial story?" It brings in ratings.

Only in f*cking France, they're still bitter cuz the US had to bial them out from their "buddies" the Germans, TWICE. Next time the German's come marching into Paris, the USA should just sit back and say "Not our war" like the French did in Iraq.

How about the U.S. and the allies bailed them out in WW2, and the British and the Allies bailed them out of WW1. You seem to forget you guys waited out the most important years of WW1, and the first 3years of WW2.
You post utter crap man. Its like listening to a sphinkter.

You don't seem to realize that France had an important role when US got independent from England.

Boys, boys, settle down. We can all agree that hype, fear, and controversy make for good entertainment to the general masses. I certainly don't agree with Michael Moore, and I do grow frustrated with the French sometimes (and my French grandfather), but they did play an important role in our independence in the US Revolutionary War, we owe them that. Calling all French people whiny cowards is like calling all Americans fat and lazy. Can't generalize an entire country.

Just a precision about WW1 : US losts are about 48 000 deads, France 1 800 000. 9 000 000 total deads and less than 50 000 US and now you come as if you had won it from the beginning instead of saying that Germany was weak when you came. Something more : Irak didn't invade you for God's sake !

What gets me is that it's this generation that you see hiss at each other over the France (+ the rest of Europe.) and US. Just like with the Marshall Plan, you see little brats my age scream off "I WANT MY MONEY BACK EUROPE!!!1!" The little f*ckers weren't even bloody chromosomes back then! People just need to move on and be grateful that each nation in its own way, both big and small, sometime gave something so that we could be sat here in comfort and...

Fine, let me say this then...Too many Frenchmen are ungrateful, left-wing drunks with nothing but shallow jealousy, contempt and bitterness towards the USA.
I din't say "all" frenchmen, just "too many"

Give me a break, man. You don't think we have assholes of our own in the US that bitch about anyone who disagrees with US foreign policy? I'm not a huge fan of the French government myself, but I don't have a real problem with the general French populace, so don't go whining about how "bitter" they are about the US when most of their anti-US actions are performed by their government.

Well the truth is, I'm not really American. I'm just an angry anti-American socialist hippy Frenchman who's bitter about losing every war we've fought and needing to be rescued by the US in both World Wars because we're drunken, cheese-eating surrender monkeys.

You guys realize that the jury that gave M. Moore its prize was made of:
US : 3 + President of the jury = 4
Belgium : 1
France : 1
Great Britain : 1
Finland : 1
Hong-Kong : 1
....
Juste for the sake of the discussion, and the weight of France in the decision ....
