I wouldn't know if I could just plain give away my life for my country just like that, but putting it at risk (military) is okay with me.

In a war like Iraq, i wouldnt be willing to give my life for something that for the most part was unbased. I would give my life if the reason for the war was to free Iraq from Tyranny, but the alliance based it on WMD's which we have yet to find.
I would give my life for my country if it was threatened. I would give my life for another country if it was threatened.
I would give my life, to protect another one. Especially the lives of innocents.

I'd just as soon avoid it, but if the task requires it, and the task is important enough, so be it. I'm a bit more wary of losing my people though. They're good folks.

Depends on the threat. I would be willing to risk my life if my family and friends would be in an immidiate danger of being annihilated or oppressed by some totalitarian regime. In that case I would want to use the skills I wasted a year learning. But it really should be fool proof that the life of my family and friends would become significantly worse. Otherwise, no dice. You only live once and it would be really stupid to die for other man's political or financial goals.

What is a country/nation anyway nowadays? No flag waving is going to make me get shot at or trying to kill anyone without a good reason.

No, I wouldn't die for my country. I would however die for my loved ones, and to defend my house and all the neat stuff inside it (DVD, computer, '54 flat screen, pets). Canada never brought me a drink and comforted me when I was having woman troubles. Paul Martin or any other PM for that matter never helped me move into my house. So screw Canada, Canada sucks.

Canada allows you to live everyday without having to worry about being killed by ****in stray gunfire or some ****ty band of thugs so they can strip your body to buy bread. Canada allows you to get a job extremely easily. Canada allows you to do pretty much whatever the **** you want and say whatever you want.

No, Canada never bought you a drink and it didnt move you into your house, but it sure as hell allowed you to do those things without problems....something most of the world can't say.

...That's why it's so boring around here. There are no ****ers out there trying to kill me. You've obviously never lived in the boonies here in northern BC. The unemployment rate here is double that of BC, and BC's unemployment rate is already one of the lowest in Canada. Oh, and I can't do everything I want here. If I wanted to piss in a cop's open mouth, I'd probably get **** kicked and charged with something.

I just live here mate, if I get wind that Canada gets invaded, I'm simply packing my **** and moving elsewhere.

Very true..but I would be extremely scared to go into battle. It's not that I would want to be scared, it'd be a natural feeling. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Be ashamed for not doing anything.

That's all so true. I remember one time when I was scared in first paintball war. And after my first paintball game I wasn't scared. Just like a battlefield the first you get into combat your scared as hell, but after that your not that scared any more.

This is a good one with fear.

[Lt. Speirs explains to Pvt. Blithe how to cope with fear]
Ronald Speirs: We're all scared. You hid in that ditch because you think there's still hope. But Blithe, the only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function. Without mercy. Without compassion. Without remorse. All war depends on it.

That is the problem with duel citizenship, you don't know where you belong. You are not sure which side you belong to. I look down on dual citizenship. P.S. I pitty those few that voted differently. I cant image what a such an person thinks, or does he/she think at all?
