Awesome pics.

Why do they tape up the RPG's?

Maverick77
05-22-2004, 09:45 PM
Im not really sure but I read before that some of them think that American vehicles have a forcefield or something around them and that the tape allows the RPG round the pass through the forcefield.

Like most of you guys iv'e watched the goings on in Iraq and the Al Sadur situation and I think we need a shed load of the US's best snipers all over the troubled city's in Iraq taking out those insurgents from long range, there ain't no better way to scare those muppets than to take em' out and they can't hit or see s**t. They want it up close and with IED's but I feel this can be a clinical and deadly way of dealing with this headache to the coalition (i'm sure that this is already going on but I just wanted to add my thoughts).

Now I see the picture and think it looks like a picture taken somewhere in the west. I get the image of somewhere in New England area of the U.S.

Look at the nice painted railing, nice flowers, it looks western, from a place that is clean and at least middle-class.

If it is, I would not want to be him if wounded and / or captured. Even if it is his kid and some American finds the picture and gets the same idea about it as I did. I know what I or anyone I served with would do to him.

You'd be surprised, not all of them are living in manholes and ruins. Especially not those who fight to restore the old regime. Keep in mind it's a family portrait and not all of them wear rags and live in ruins. 12 years ago Iraq had an oppressed, but prosperous middelclass.

Bunch of whimps.
Whimps or not, they're proberly more effective now. Instead of sitting like a fat duck in some trench waiting for the big bad US hi-tec grim reaper. You fight with what you got and you fight to win.

$20 says he doesn't have any ammunition for that. AFAIK 7.92 short isn't being produced anymore, and since the quantities of STG-44's were in short supply during the war, ammunition was not as plentiful as it is with the standard 8mm.

Many times when you see something taped to the RPG's, it's most likely something like 10 penny nails or something equivalent to increase the frag producing affects of the warheads. What the fools forgot to do was compensate for the added weight on the flight of the warheads. Most of the shots I saw that had **** like this, were impacting short of the intended targets.

Good pics, brave mofos, as they are as they dare to challenge the might of US Army and Marines with AK:s and RPG's only.

I just wonder that how many of those that said "kill em all" would dare to do the same... against Apaches, Spectres, Abrams and Bradleys.
Think people that of what kind of people are you talking about before you taunt em.
And anyways id figure that most of the people in the pics are dead already anyhow.

your statements illustrate an intersting points about the relations one have about persons shown on the media. every human naturally feels closer to other people if their outward appaerance, behaviour and attitude is similiar to the own ones.

if people on this forum see an iraqui insurgent with a mask or without I think most people only see the enemy in him. the fact alone that he shows this western-style picture which refers to ower culture and our life forces us to think differently about him.

this leads to another point. if it's so easy to change the image we have of foreign people it's very easy to propagate others as enemy. here is where propaganda finds a base to start.

And belive it or not, many of the people (insurgents) that you call as terrorists or as animals are pretty normal, and if they were your boys and fighting agaisnt same kinds of odds youd be proud of them.

In short: Iraqis also like pretty flowers and love their children, as they are human beings.

Mine is according to knowing there is a war going on.

People are dying. I choose my people to be victorious in battle.

So, if there is battle raging, I hope US/Coalition forces kill many insurgents, terrorists.

Yikes. These ignorant mofos think that wrapping their RPGs in a Glad bag will protect it from the "magnetic field weapon" around our vehicles? That's insane.

They also believed the sunglasses we wear allowed us to see through women's clothing.

It is therefore fair to ask - are they also similarly misled about what America is there for? Of course they are. They have absolutely no clue what they're doing, apart from what they're told to do.

My ass they are. They hide behind women, children and holy sites. I've been there and seen it and unfortunately had to engage them while they were doing it. There is nothing honorable about the way they fight. They know our rules of engagement and use them against us.
We learned quickly that when they were hiding behind women and kids that if you put a few rounds in the air, the "shields" would run and leave the assholes with no cover.
F**k those chicken ****s. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.
In the 3 months I was in Iraq (March 2003 - May 2003) I never heard one Iraqi say one bad thing about the US. They had questions and considerations (mostly quality of life issues, ie. medicine, fresh water, fuel, etc.). Once we ironed those issues out, we were always welcome in every village, town and city. They all hated Saddam and were glad we came.
Someone else said it and I can't remember where, but here it is:
"No other fighting force in the history of mankind, has gone to the lengths we have to avoid civilian casualties".
This is more true than any of you could possibly fathom (unless you were there). I've seen Marines get hit, trying to get Iraqi civilians out of the line of fire or evacing the wounded Iraqis under fire.
One Marine who was wounded rescuing a wounded Iraqi child told me that he would "do it again in spades" because "those kids are why we're here...to make sure they have a future".
All of you armchair quaterbacking, liberal assholes should shut your mouths, that is unless you want to grab a rifle and get into the ****. Otherwise you don't really rate and opinion.

Well said.

"No other fighting force in the history of mankind, has gone to the lengths we have to avoid civilian casualties".

I think that was in "The March Up".

I think.

It is therefore fair to ask - are they also similarly misled about what America is there for? Of course they are. They have absolutely no clue what they're doing, apart from what they're told to do.

These clueless (albeit brave/foolhardy) pawns are throwing themselves into the meat grinder. Sad.

Well well. Quite a statement. I kind of agree though. There are misled pawns in Iraq.

Well, I was waiting for someone to pick it up, so congratulations for taking the bait  Of course, you're implying that the pawns in Iraq are the coalition soldiers.

Can you explain how a coalition soldier, who has had full access to a comprehensive education, a plurality of political opinion, and an open and free press is a "pawn"?

On the other hand, we have the militant Islamists. Their "education" consists of spending their entire youth in a madras, endlessly copying the Koran until they have it memorized, word for word. That's it. No "free speech" zones on campus. No diversity training. No interpretive dance, theatre, art history, or basket weaving electives. All they get from the time they leave their mother's breast the time they get their AK-47 is the Koran, and the maniacal anti-US diatribes from the Cleric.

So do explain which of these two groups is more likely to not have a grip on reality.

One only has to look at the accomplishments of the two groups. On one hand, the West produces people that can go to the moon, construct suspension bridges, land on mars, cure diseases etc. And of course the madras system produces - mind-numbed killers.
