Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC (BFI) announced today that it has signed an exclusive license deal with Magpul Industries Corp. for the production, future development, and sales of Magpul’s prototype MASADA weapon system.

The Bushmaster ACR (Adaptive Combat Rifle) will initially be offered in 5.56 NATO, available for law enforcement and civilian purchase second quarter 2008. This release will be followed by military ACR versions in the 3rd quarter of 2008.

So what does this mean? Will they change it or is it the same thing still?

The article says they will be adding a firing-pin block and making the charging handle truly ambidextrous, but not apparently changing anything else.

This is way cool. I have a Bushmaster M4 Ultralite, got about 8,000 rounds thru it, and can't recall it ever giving me the slightest hiccup. I don't get what the guys commenting on the article are bitching about. This just means we may be able to get a Bushmaster ACR for $1000 or less, intead of a MagPul Masada for $1600+ with a long waiting list.:)

This is very very good, cheaper, same quality and fewer waiting lists. I am -very- excited. Hopefully, lets all pray for 8-900 bucks.

Well I think I will put my money down on a SCAR after this article.
I think BM will mess this one up and not keep it to the same level of quality as Magpul would have.

Oh, and "ACR" is replacing "Masada"? Thats dumb.

Don't know but the gun store I go to said the FNH Rep stopped by with a SCAR a month and said it will be available this year.

You have to swap lowers and barrels on the masada to get the 7.62x39 anyways.

I have two Bushmaster's, I'm pleased with them, but I wasn't looking at getting a third, shame, it's not being pushed through by Magpul but I may get one.

Ok I changed my mind. Maybe they just wanted to be able to get more rifles out since after this upcoming election they might not even be able to sell them to civis. Idk but I'm still getting one.

Just one question:
Are they using a Magpul Masada or a Bushmaster ACR on the Futureweapons episode?

Between $1400-1600 depending on features. Dont look for them soon. I tried to order 60 of them today and they said they did not know when they nwould be out. Hopefully second quarter....

looks like they moved the charging handle up from where the prototypes had it.

^^^ Doesn't it bug the crap outta you when companies don't accept "pre-orders" for things like that? ;) DPMS does the same thing to me all the time, so annoying.
Still, can't wait to get my hands on these.

the 7.62 Scar will also take AK mags and fire 7.62x39mm in addition to the nato x51mm. The Robinson XCR does 5.56 and 7.62x39mm, but uses utterly retarded magazines to do it.
