I've been issued a pair of Wiley X goggles. Had the prescription lenses made as well.

Went out on a road march and the things fogged up in seconds.

Used "OP-Drops" to prevent fogging.

Dropped down into the ****e position on the firing range and...

Fogged in seconds.

Anyone know of a better product to prevent fogging than Op-Drops? (Issue item with the RFI.)

I just got a set of Wiley-X shades and have the same problem. When the sun is out and it is cold in the morning, I have to set them on the defroster vent on the dashboard of my vehicle for a few seconds to keep them from fogging up when I put them on.

I, too, would be interested in a good anti-fogging product.

There's an anti fog product called "cat crap (http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=608)", but I haven't tried it.

A tiny smear of detergent rubbed into the inside can work. I use it on my goggles at work.

I work in a dive shop,, We sell a couple brands of de-fogger,, fogging is common in scuba diving,, the boat deck is 90 deg, drop into the water & it's 70+_ deg....

What I have found to work that is reel cheep,, Tooth Paste,, after you think there is nothing left in the tube, throw it in your possibles bag, and try just a little,, w/spit,,, may not last all day,, but sure tastes & smell good.. Just remember,, only a very little..

Can't explain why,, but it works in saltwater just fine...

Did I say it's reel cheep???

I'd be very very interested in your comments about trying tooth paste de-fogger in the sand box..

WileyX SG1s are notorious for fogging.
I wish I knew that before I bought them.
Mine have been sitting on the shelf for a while. I have "cat crap" so that might be worth a try when I get home... (Even though I though I did a long time ago.)

They made another version with air vents, but even that doesn't help much. Anything that close to your eyes and relatively sealed is likely to fog.

You can try cutting your own vent notches; otherwise, I use dish soap and that helps a bit.

I've tried cat crap before and it was the best thing I've ever done, for the entire day after I applied "cat crap" I had little to no fogging.

I'vehad the same problems with my Wiley's. I used the old scuba dive trick of gel toothpaste, I also cut some more vent slots in the foam edges. It sounds like th cat crap stuff maybe the way to go I'm gonna se if I can find some of that. I hope that was alittle help anyways
Take care and be safe.

My buddy swears by cat crap.

I simply don't use my Wiley-X's anymore, but in your position, I don't believe you have the luxury of that choice. :-(

Do not apply toothpaste to lenses. It is abrasive.

My Wileys fog up. My Oakleys fog up. My Ray-Bans fog up. Heck, even my Aviators fog up. I think it has something to do with my bushy eyebrows.

Our newbies are issued Wiley Xs, not sure of the model, shooting glasses. The newer versions have bendable nose bridges and by making them sit higher on the nose it seems to have helped. I know its goofy, but some of them also stick one of the soft, foam ears plugs on the bridge to space from the forehead and that helps, too. Ruins the CDI factor, but works in the south GA humidity on the firing line.

funny thing, we were prevented from drawing wiley x's because the prescription lenses were found to not be ballistic...i dont know how much truth this ccarries now being that it was 2002 when this happened. i do love sg-1's though, great set of glasses. spit usually works for m e to keep the glasses clear but then there is the hygeine problem with that

Can you still get the old school BCGs? In 1997 I was able to get some of the old fashioned 1960s style glasses issued to me, instead of those square brown ones. They were great.

Did the army tell you your eyes were too good for lasik?

I've long been very fond of Native eyewear. I have a pair of their "Nano" frames. They come with various clear and colored ballistic lenses, and switching them is a snap.

yeah i still get 2 pair issued every time i go to the optometrist...it pains me to see me get another pair every time

yeah, i sat down for an eye test and they said read the first letter. I told them what it was and went through 3 more lines before she told me "oh this surgery is designed for those who cant read the first big letter. sorry "
aggrivating to say the least
