I've been reading "Deke's" diary for a long time now (nearly 2 years, I think) - very cool stuff. For those of you who don't know - this is a monthly "diary" by a Special Forces type soldier, unit unknown. If I had to guess, I'd say he is a SEAL - he has made the odd comment over the last year or 2 which sound very "sealish".
Either way, it's good stuff, and probably the kind of gung ho stuff many of you are looking for.

Hopefully this isn't too OPSEC/PERSEC-related, but out of two random diary's I browsed, I saw the Rangers mentioned twice. Just a thought...

omg those people ask some pretty stupid questions to that guy..

Dear Deke,

Q. Did you know that Mr. Rogers of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood was a former US Navy SEAL and that he could kill people with his bare hands. He wore the sweater to cover his tattoos. PS. I want to be a Navy SEAL one day.

A. I think you mean, he was an ordained minister. I always get those two confused also. Maybe you should stop watching the TV show. It won’t help you become a Navy SEAL, if that is what you are thinking. Maybe you could take Mr. Feeley out for a drink and ask him some advice. Geesh!

Lordy, enough mail already! Who screens this stuff? Here I’m bustin my ass to stay alive and I discover that I’m protecting people who watch Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood to become a Navy SEAL! Do yourself a favor DS, go buy yourself a sweater and some puppets and stay home.
