That's what I've been doing lately. Obviously not everywhere, but when distance and time permits I try to avoid use of motor vehicles.

Nah, i'm not going to let this hinder my life. Of course I'll have to take less "joy" rides up in the mountain with my truck because it's a nice night out there.

premium gas is more pour and is easier on the engine, they say that it will be better for car in long run if u use premium.

I know that but he said he "had" to use premium so I thought he probably had some serious sh*t under his hood. I use the mid-grade stuff, works for me.

I heard that they found oil of the coast of California. The reserve is so much that it can meet the oil needs of ENTIRE US for the next 300 years. WTF why don't we use that oil now?! In the next 300 years we will have developed other fuel sources. And don't blame JUST the OPEC, I read that EPA has set a higher standard for gas, that means more refining, that adds to gas price. So this is pretty much the US' own doing.

the dollar really weak at the moment so the european prices superficially high.

What I want to know is why is the US government stockpiling?

Here in Germany the price for regular fuel is around 1.15 Euro per liter.

1.15 Euro = 1.38 US-$

1 Liter = 0.26 US gallons

Which means we pay ~5.31$ per gallon...

In Israel we pay 1$ per litre or 4$ per gallon and we are located in the Middle East, you shouldn't cry about your gas prices.

Euro have almost always been high. They have been budgeting for high petrol prices for decades. They can manage the prices because they have been managing the prices for a very long time.

WE have not. Our personal budgets account for cheap energy. When you have a family on a tight budget (which most American families are) and all of a sudden in a matter of weeks one of your expenses increase in cost by 45% and the impact is very real, and simply telling people that they should "suck it up" is... :backhand:

Did I mention our public transporation out in the west of United States sucks?

Last time I was in Korea (South), Aug 2001, it was about $5-7 per liter, but that's out in the country side. That's where the next closest gas station is about 30 miles away.

Holy sh*t, no wonder the Korean car companies make their engines so small, at $5-7 a LITRE I'd be on a donkey not a Kia.
