Tucson, AZ – Feb 01, 2008 – Vltor Weapon Systems today announced the launch of the Fortis™ Pistol Project, a modern version of the famous Bren Ten style auto pistol.

Originally released in 1982, the Bren Ten pistol was designed to advance the state of the art in handgun technology. Designed to fill the need for a full size, full power, double action pistol, the Bren Ten created immediate interest as a potent choice for law enforcement and military use.

COOL!!!!!!!!!

I remember the original Bren Ten, and the disappointment throughout the firearms community at what could have been an enormously successful pistol, only to flop because the manufacturer couldn't fulfill orders.

Like the Armalite AR-180, it's nice to see a deserving gun get a second chance.

Cool post.

It is bizarre, isn't it? I had no idea that the demand for the 10mm was out there. I believe Dan Wesson offers a 10mm in a 1911 frame, too. I'd really like to see the Vltor pistol.

Plus, Vltor builds PKMs, too. I really need one for my bike!:)

Anybody familiar with their PKMs?

With the platform offered in .45ACP, and Jeff Cooper's reputation and involvement in the development of the original design, the time might be right for this to be a success.

Hmm, you're right, that's interesting to think about. I certainly hope it pans out. I'll be a 1911 guy until the end of my days, but I am REALLY interested in this in 10mm.

Real hand cannon. BOOM.
