He has denied raping the girl, saying he only forced her down and kissed her, police said.<--Sounds more like a ****** assault than rape.
Anyways if found guilty, the guy should pay for his misdeed coz such a act gives US soldiers that bravely serve their country a bad name.

This is very unfortunate. I was there on island in 1995 when the aforementioned first incident took place and really caused the ripple effect of the Okinawa gov't to push for what is currently taking place with the relocation of forces (MCAS Futenma), which is long overdue in my opnion. We'll see what the investigation uncovers but sometimes the perception alone is enough to cause change in a fragile enviroment ie. perception is reality.

Funny, i was there during 1996, Camp Hansen, and they were still doing it. By day they would protest at the gates, GI go home!, and at night they wanted us to come out and spend our money. I'm not trying to make light of the incident, those guys got what they deserve, but anti-military and anti-America types are going to take this up again and make a case for the US to move the bases elsewhere. Everybody i knew wanted them moved to Australia, mostly for the beer and the women.
Sounds more like a ****** assault than rape
It was still a 14y-old. Rape or no rape, it is still a sick pervert.

I was at Hansen 94-95 and Schwab in 97. This seems to happen every few years... The perpetrators usually get their just desserts.
Sounds more like a ****** assault than rape.

matters not, by his own admissions he should be executed.

Just lock down the bases. US personnel don't go outside w/o a pass. Should keep a lid on the criminals, and attrit the $ that normally make their way into the local economy.

O'm not defending the guy.he's indeed a pervert. This sh!t seems to happen every 2-3 years. Can't the commanders of those bases take some measures to prevent it from happening again? This is embarrassing.

Anxiety and anger spread among residents of Okinawa Prefecture on Tuesday in the wake of the previous day's arrest of a U.S. Marine for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl from a local junior high school.

Exactly. They want all the Americans off the island but they want those yummy greenbacks. Of course, there can be a happy medium. Ah, Kin-town, what memories.

Yeah... A few months after I left in 1995, a couple of Marines and a Corpsman were arrested for gang raping a girl. They might still be in the can over there. I recall that the USMC was pretty open with letting the civilian authorities prosecute these cases... "Mmm, no, WE aren't going to court martial you. We're turning you over to the locals."
Probably part of SOFA agreement or something.

I have zero to no sympathy for an idiot who forces himself on a 14 year old girl. He screwed himself, his unit, the Corps, and has once again managed to make the entire US military look like a bunch of marauding *** fends in the eyes of the local population. I hope they throw is dumb ass in a hole until he rots. Idiots like this fool do nothing but piss me off. End of rant.

pull your head out of your arse mate
Here in America, we have this thing, called presumption of innocence. If Tyrone is found guilty in the court of law, than you can flame Tyrone, America and USMC. Until then, keep your arse comments to yourself, mate.

I think Budgie was referring to your stupid comment regarding Okinawan girls, and I have to say, I agree with him.
I had a 1st Sergeant whose daughter was 1/2 Okinawan, and she was a babe.

Yes, half-Oki, half American were most beautiful girls indeed.
P.S. Hollis, could you delete the stupid part of my original post.

Cpl. T, I do agree with you that we should wait until the verdict before passing judgement on Tyrone. We don't want to be like Mr. Murtha.......

Sorry Cpl T, I was not referring to the Marine. There are courts and courts-martial to decide his guilt and it is not my place to suggest a verdict. If you look at the history of my posts regarding such matters (Haditha, the Fallujah mosque incident and that murder of an Iraqi girl and her family a couple of years ago) I have consistently defended the courts and military justice system's right to decide over that of the media or armchair generals and lawyers such as ourselves.
I do however have an extremely high opinion of Japanese women, as some of the guys here will attest. So forgive me for getting a little ansty if think I've heard some kind of slur against them. If that was unintended, no harm done.

I can relate, Budgie!
I was living in South Korea a few years ago, when two M109 crewmen were accused of homicide (or something similiar) when their vehicle ran over two school girls on bicycles. 90% of the Korean population wanted to lynch the soldiers, but because of the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA), they were tried by an Army court martial. The soldiers were found to be not guilty, due to the fact that they followed correct procedure, and it was found that the fault lay not with them, but in their faulty headsets, which prevented the soldier on the top of the M109 from informing the driver of the girls' presence. So, just because the public is calling for blood, the accused still deserves his day in court.

A buddy of mine said back in the 80's while serving on the Midway, a couple a sailors were left in Korea for the local authorities to deal with after they raped a young girl.

If they did it, I've got no problem with the Marines (or soldiers, sailors, airmen) being handed over to the local authorities for justice. It may be harsh, but fvck 'em. I've got no sympathy for *** offenders, especially those who tarnish the reputation of The Corps.
