Hey Guys,
I did a search on here but, couldn't find the answers I'm looking for so, I figure I would just ask.

I want to get myself a Used SDS Molle Patrol Pack in woodland camo on an online store. I have looked at the SDS ones in the ACU camo pattern in my local army surplus store (I believe they are called 3 day assault packs) but I can't find a woodland camo one to compare it with. All I can do is look at a few pics. I don't like the ACU camo pattern so, that's why I'm not buying one of those.

Anyways, My question is, Are they the exact same pack? To me they might look the same except, I have notice that the ACU ones seem to have wider shoulder straps, compression straps on the sides, and a few small pockets inside the outside pockets but, does the woodland camo ones have the same features?
Did SDS make some improvements on them over the years? Like did they improve on the ones that were made back in 2001 or so? I don't want to get something and find out it might be way smaller then I expected. I want to use this for camping/hiking.

Thanks for your help!

Yes, there are some differences, and I think you listed almost all of them, or at least the biggest differences. To my knowledge the older version with smaller shoulder straps was only produced in Woodland pattern.

The newer style with wider shoulder straps, compression straps, etc. was produced in Woodland Camo (sometimes with tan plastic hardware, more commonly black), Tri-Colour Desert, and UCP (ACU pattern). These pictures might help:

this is a "MOLLE II pack, patrol"
http://www.armygear.net/ag/store/00153.html
this was only made in woodland, and DCU camo

there is a pack called the "MOLLE II, ASSAULT PACK, LARGE"
or something like that. this pack was made in woodland, DCU, and ACU camo. on the woodland version, the label may say something like "SDS LARGE PACK ASSAULT".

the Assualt packs, have more features than the patrol pack. IMO, they are better than the patrol packs.

the one that bakercompany posted, is the MOLLE II ASSAULT PACK.

Hey Guys,
Thank You for your replies and for clearing everything up!! That's a huge help!!
Bakercompany, The one in the link is the one I saw in my local surplus store. It's like $80.00. Even though they look really nice and solid, I just don't like that camo pattern and unfornatuly, that's the only camo pattern they got. If they would have them in woodland then I would put one on layway.

JKinnaird, That is exactly what I was looking at online. Mostly on ebay and a store called Ims-plus. I didn't know that other store even existed. Thanks for the link.

Well, Thanks again for all the help!! I appericate it!!

The Patrol Pack is designed to attach to the MOLLE II ruck, and then detach as needed as a patrol pack. The Assault Pack is more of a standalone 3-day pack.
