it's just an old joke, so everyone smile...

Yes it is our sense of humour - I seem to remember that we won at Alamein (my Grandfather died there), and as for raids on ports, how about Taranto?

No offence intended (unless you're a Carabinieri...)

I'm a Carabiniere Parachutist of Tuscania Regiment so, as you have said, I can take your words as an offense.
What a glorious victory at Alamein; 10 against 1, the only way for a drunk british to win a battle.
After the big white flag you issued at Dunkerque you and french can thank American G.I.s if you aren't a German shire.

I seem to remember something called the Battle of Britain, but as I fear we aren't going to be civil to each other, maybe we should ignore one another and hope we never have to work together again.

No problem at all for me... you started offending not only my country but also my military corp, so for me the incident is closed if you will avoid your insane humor in the future.

What type of helmets are they wearing? They look like MICH's, or at least appear to have the same shape under the helmet covers.

What are the blue things?

The blue little thing is a support for the alpine troops symbol: an eagle black pen (white for officers). Usually they carry this pen on their hat (see photo below)and, being a long tradition corp (they were created in 1872), they love to put the pen also on their helmet.

Why you brits are always so crappy badmouthers ?

As I've said on other threads before I have alot of respect for the Alpini & San Marco's (I've worked with both). Your frogmen in WWII riased the profile of such units and indirectly led to the creation of the forerunners of the SBS.

However as I said before, I have no respect what so ever for a so called military? unit that has come close to killing me on two occasions through it's arrogance and incompetance - the Carabinieri

I don't know which kind of Carabinieri you have encountered on your steps and I don't want to argue with you about your experiences, but I think that judging an entire corp on the basis of a couple of episodes could be also an error. On the last Iraqi war there were a lot of death and injuried on the British and USA Army side due to friendly fire, but this don't make me think that the corp whose members opened the fire in error are incompetent: under stress errors happen, this is a matter of fact.
My two cents contribution.

I never said the incidents involved 'friendly fire', because they didn't.

Lets leave it at that...

Royal,

come on , Carabinieri shot to you deliberately ?

It was "blue on blue" for sure , a mistake , impossible to have a shot down between allies.
