I have more sympathy of the 10,000 North Koreans working for nothing and live in crappy conditions.
so what the hell is the Jewish autonomous republic? never heard of it
what Russia needs is to stop drinking, smoking , drugs , otherwise the far east will be chinese land in some time, somewhere it said that in chinese school books the russian land north of China is said to be chinese land temporarily lost to the russians - perhaps a sign of things to come

It's area along the Amur River set aside by the Stalin as a Jewish Socialist Republic.
The Chinese view this area as Chinese Territory lost through unequal treaties imposed by the Tzar. Even though much of this nationalist ideology was tempered during the Mao era, it has been resurrected recently in China as victim-centric nationalism replaced victor-centric Communism.
Russia's real worry is the declining birth rate, coupled with a growing economy that is dependent on outside labor. Putin has done well in stabilizing the economy and encouraging confidence within Russia. But the big question is this enough to kick start Russian hegemony in the Far East.
