Kosovo Independence Funded by Drug Dealers, Rogozin Says

Recognition of Kosovo’s independence might have been funded by local drug mafia, supposed Russia’s envoy to Nato Dmitry Rogozin. The link between drug traffickers and recognition of self-proclaimed republic by the EU (http://www.europa.eu.int/) states is quite probable, RIA Novosti (http://en.rian.ru/rian/index.cfm) reported with reference to Rogozin.

“Kosovo has long turned not only into the base for trafficking drugs to Europe but also into a big laboratory,” Rogozin said, supposing that some policymakers in Europe might have been bribed by money of drug mafia.

Kosovo parliament declared the independence past Sunday and half of the EU as well as the United States and Australia have welcomed a new state already. The standing of Serbia is quite the opposite. During the mass rally that was staged in downtown Belgrade yesterday, the demonstrators set on fire the U.S. embassy, stormed the U.S. stores, McDonalds and the embassies of the EU states that recognized their breakaway province.

Dimitry Rogozin is a well known knob which threatened Poland not to accept US ABM system base, because of what happened in WWII. He also threatened that Russia may attack NATO if it's going to exceed it's UN mandate in Kosovo by using force against Serbia military.

This is a guy to the right

Couldn't be. Archie never looked that constipated.

On topic, from this (http://www.balkaninsight.com/en/main/news/8111/) it looks like the "drug money" comments are more saber rattling

Dmitry Rogozin, also warned of action if all European Union members back Kosovo's independence, local reports said Friday.
"If the EU works out a single position or if NATO steps beyond its mandate in Kosovo, these organizations will be in conflict with the United Nations, and then, I think, we will also begin operating under the assumption that in order to be respected we have to use force," Rogozin was quoted by Russian media as saying.
He, however, assured that Russia was not going to get involved in any armed confrontation over Kosovo though added the issue "will certainly hamper our dialogue."

It seems that Interfax have misinterpreted Rogozin words on the use of force against NATO. They just released the correction
