I'm after a rail mount for a Surefire 6P which can fit onto the front of a Steyr S Carbine. It'll need to be an offset mount so it stays out of the way of the sight.
To give those unfamiliar with the F88 an idea-

All Delta do that........
No but on topic:
I got issued with a Surefire + mount that was offset last year by our CQ, it was as basic as can be, probably cheap too.
Sorry but i dont have pictures of it, and I couldnt find anything on it on the net but the Army uses one so there is a start, maybe you can follow it up that way.
good luck

A bit off topic:
Judging from the off angle bayonet lug, let me guess - 3RAR?

There is one used by the Australian Army in VERY limited numbers- we've been given the OK to acquire our for use in-country. However I've been unable to find any details about said mount, through both Ops and Q, and there are a lot of commercial ones available on the net but not in the offset style.
Yes, it is a 3 RAR weapon, but I'm not posted to 3 :)
As for the weapon, it belonged to my 2IC who was sleeping next to me- and who now owes me a 6 pack. Good spot StuRat. Cheers!

SureFire can make an off-set M93 mount. It will also work if you are using the NAD. The M600 (Scout Light) works best with the space available on the weapon. The DMO needs and your dev cell needs to request it from SureFire.

Excellent. Except it'd take too long. We're after a commercially available mount, not necessarily for or by Surefire, but something that isn't a complete piece of crap either. We've got 3 weeks in which to acquire and ship the mounts.
I realize these limitations are quite stringent- We're burning the candle on both ends for this one. This has been one of the most untidy pre-deployments ever and we're being left to organize a lot of this stuff ourselves.
That said, thanks for the help Auckland. I'll be taking this info to the OC tommorrow.

Jon,
There's a US company making an AUG clone whom I'm sure were flogging side rails but buggered if I can remember the name.
Not very helpful I know.
Edit- aha http://www.msarinc.com/accessories.html

Edit- aha http://www.msarinc.com/accessories.html but only rails I'm afraid.
I think they use proprietary receivers that are tapped for the side rails.
Don't think the army would like him drilling holes into his rifle!!

Yeah you're right mate- looking at their copy you can see the receiver's been tapped. I'm surprised there's not something locally available.

it's not being used in limited numbers at all, my whole company got them during leadup, we thought we get them in country, there in all RAR q's.

I'm just back from Kapooka, when you say 'safe' every time you put the thing down it gets stuck in your mind :)

Would you be interest in buying a Scout light?
They have a pivot hinge mount that would like a champ on your weapon.

You've probably got all ours, ya bastard. I'll see if we can get our Q SGT to raid the 1 and 2 q-stores.
Got a extremely useful PM from Auckland, but what Flanker brought up is exactly what I'm after. I'm going to look up SMGLees Scout light first, though, before buying it.

Take a look at this....the mount is a forwrd pivot hinge. this allow me to mount the light on the barrel and turn the hinge to get the light to esactly where I need it to be. this hinged pivot will allow you to mount the light off your picatinny rail and position the light near your receiver. and you can order the remote pressure switch and locate it near the firing grip. don't put it on your firing grip, since you can get light AD easier.
This is not a standard order item. and the newer Scount light can be had with the 110lumens LED lamp. if you are military, you can also request Surefire to convert the LED lamp to 120Lumens.
I am sure your Surefire dealer in your area can order the exact set up for you.
If you need more info, ican take some more pictures and post it for you.

I feel bad dude , cos when we had them on ops I didnt(couldn't!) use the mount
as I had a normal styer.
And the NAD would take all the attachment space.
That was the same for the rest of the section, only the scouts(with Styer S') and the gunners could use the mount.
The bracket that we had was similar to smglees' suggested mount but was at the same height with no angle.
I'll have a continue the search to help out, im bored anyway.p-)

We're trying to avoid barrel-mounted options. They apparently have a tendency to screw with the short Carbine barrel harmonics.
I saw those too Winchester, but they'd partially block the optics if we used those, which is why we're after an offset mount. Cheers though.

It is a off sit weapon mounted light, it is just happen to mount to a barrel clamp. you can mount this to any picatinny rail system such as the A2 rail on your F88.

Please. Stop making suggestions to this fake ass wannabe mother****er. Helping him helps nobody but his fake ass. He is a pretender pure and simple and there is no way known to humankind that your suggestions to him will ever reach ADF consideration. I say again: He is a fake, loser wannabe pretending to have a say in a defence force he will never be a part of.
That is all.

Report it to the mods then and let them handle it, don't go slagging members of the forum willy nilly.

If there's reason to believe someone is representing themselves falsely, then mods are able to handle it. Making an ass of yourself isn't going to do much more than earn you some unwanted attention.
Now that we are on the subject, sickofpretenders might want to make his own credentials clear to the mods.

Yeah you caught me out SOP, I'm a poser all right. I just go to East Timor and the Solomons for holidays. I haven't seen you since 2006 when you were giving me **** back then too. I feel flattered you sought out my posts and restarted this one just for me.
