OK 3 photos, maybe not military related but I hope it will be interesting for you...
This is skull of Deer that was hit from close distance with 12ga slug... as you see bone was not penetrated my cousin examined it and was sure that it is dead but, after hit it was unconscious and when my cousin who "killed" it went to bring tractor to take it home (He was with small car and this deer was over 200kg (450 pounds) ,so when he went back he left his shootgun home and returned with tractor after 90m, but deer was standing on legs!!!! in place where it was supposed to lie dead... so my cousin finished him with bare hands and knife. Fortunatelly deer was in shock and did not tried to fight back
Remember never leave your gun at home!!! rofl

In one of the gang violence schools I attended they showed a video of two gang members fighting at a gas station. One pulls out a 12 gage and shoots the other in the chest with a slug. The guy that got hit looked at his chest and then chased the one who shot him. The guy lived even though he lost one of his lungs.
Goes to show that crew served or lanyard fired is the only way to go.

Would depend on the load behind it. If it was a low pressure/slow burn then it is quite likely the slug isnt travelling all that fast(not that I'd like to get infront of one :)) and being a blunt object its not going to penetrate much. Plenty of blunt trauma damage I'd guess, not nice.

Its a cleaner/more reliable one shot kill if you can get a good hit on the heart/vital organs rather than the head.

I remember once wild boar which was shot with hollow point ammo straight in hears and menaged to run away over 200m... When I tried to find his heart it was gone... really only vains and meat pulp in place where it should be... and it still menaged to run away so far...

deer have crazy-go-nuts bone structure in their skull, thy do like head-butting each other and all. And boars are just evil SOB's that don't like to die. I had a similar experience to Marmot's when I was on a missionary trip in Africa, .357 magnum, from a revolver, center mass. Still crossed about 75 meters with enough force to knock me down as it died. Scared the crap out of me, let me go fish out the pictures . . .

There's no such thing as coincidence. There got to be some kind of conspiracy behind this! Hmm...
Somebody is smuggling ducks all over the world…but why? We got to figure this out! ;)
