She's running for President of the United States, which has nowhere near the relation to Islam as a doctor and surgery are related. That said, she didn't at all say her knowledge of Islam comes from her daughter, she said that a part of it did. She was simply just making a speech to a group of Muslims and wanted to let them know she respects their religion. That's probably the major problem the author of this article has, which is why he sarcastically called Islam a "religion of peace". Many conservatives today view Islam and Arabs as our enemy.
