A mixture of the old style tin lid, the Para helmet (often worn by RM as well), the CWC crew helmet and maybe a couple of others.

That said, alot of the time, no helmet at all.

The good old beret, maroon and green were the colours of the season :)

Just used the insides of my old steel helmet (naval issued to RM's) for a medieval helm i'm making.

Maroon and Green weren't the only Beret colours I seem to remember lots of Troops wearing Kakhi Berets as well in the Footage from the Scots and Welsh Guards

I said that as a bit of tounge in cheek about the maroon and green ones being in season...

the inside of the old steel naval helmet had a leather scull type retainer in it, something like what a work safety helmet has but in leather!.

Little bit off topic here, but wouldn't it be awesome if the germans brought back their spikey helmets from WW1?

I think viking helmets will make a resurgence...except with para wings welded on the sides...mmmm.....fur-lined...

Back on topic, those from the airborne contingent wore their para lids or the bullet-deflecting, skull warming, fear inducing, knee-quivering, female-swooning, hero-toted swatch of maroon-infused finest british wool that is the god-given airborne beret.

According to the Osprey book Battle for the Falklands (1) Land Forces five types of helmet were used by British forces in the Falklands: the Mk. IV/1944-pattern steel helmet, the old paratroopers' steel helmet, the new paratroopers' fibre helmet, the Royal Armoured Corps steel helmet worn by RN and some RM personnel, and the AFV crews' fibre helmet. The RAC helmet (issued to some AFV crews late in WW2) used the same shell as the old-style para helmet.

Wasn't far off then, was I? :)

- now made in Hong Kong by the lowest bidder.....:-P

I'm surprised we had a general lack of body armour in the Falklands considering we had flak vests in NI. Having said that, it would have been yet more weight for the PBI, and IIRC, the proportion of gunshot to fragmentation wounds was higher than before.
Was the GS Mk6 on trials then at all ?

Here's a pic of Scots Guards wearing some while just north of Bluff Cove about 30 seconds before the Argentinian planes came hurtling past on their way to bomb Tristan and Galahad - no idea what sort of helmets they are though!

The last model tin hatr we had - aargh, they look like they've got the infamous crisp packets ('waterproofs ) on ! I can even see a golok. I remember being taught to use one tracer one ball in GPMG's against Russian aircraft of all thing....

They are wearing the 'turtle'-shaped Mk IV steel helmets, as issued to infantry at the time.
