Nose art made a huge comeback on RAF aircraft during GW1 in 1991. On returning from the Gulf, many aircraft were sanitized before the airshow season to make them more PC-compatible, i.e. nudity covered over with ******s etc., this was also at the direction of the RAF Air Staff.

Call me an old fart if you like, but doing a photoshoot of that slapper outside what appears to be the Battle of Britain Memorial Chapel ar Biggin Hill is in my opinion gross disrespect to the fallen!
The background is RAF Museum Hendon I was there last week and at the front entrance there is a hurricane and spitfire and two RAF launches

The same way you learn from any instructor. if your not there to learn then, why are you there. the fact that someone is sexy or pretty makes no difference.

I thought having female instructors was deliberately done because the army found that male recruits actually paid more attention than if the instructor was male.

Doty, who was a right-fielder, spends her time fixing aircraft for the Marine Corps.

CAMP FALLUJAH, IRAQ (1 November 2006) - In an effort to prevent further violence, as well as encourage a more positive relationship, female Marines like Sgt. Maureen D. Mendenhall and Cpl. Jennifer B. Holt (http://www.usmc.mil/marinelink/mcn2000.nsf/main5/523AF652040D113C8525721F003FFC98?opendocument) are shedding combat-service-support roles and leaving the base to become part of the Marine Corps female search team, or FST. Members of the team said they feel like they are doing their part to protect the streets of Fallujah, as well as those Marines patrolling those streets daily. “Of course anytime that somebody comes through and we are able to stop them with guns or IED paraphernalia, that’s exciting because you know that that’s one less person who’s going to hurt our boys out there,” said Cpl. Jennifer B. Holt, 25 from Clay, Alabama. Holt is normally a company clerk for Engineer Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 5, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward). Mendenhall, a 25-year-old native of Edmonds, Washington, and normally a substance abuse counselor and career planner for CLB-5, said “You find (something suspicious), and you realize that could have been used for an improvised explosive device somewhere.”

CAMP FALLUJAH, IRAQ (1 November 2006) - “(Utilizing the FST) shows that we are trying to accommodate (the Iraqis), and make an effort to abide by their moral code,” said Cpl. Holt. According to cultural studies, Iraqis don’t show affection between males and females in public. By using the FST, Marines respect these cultural differences in an effort to put the Iraqis at ease.

In Greece, the land where the civilisation was born, we prefer to use oral speach for comunication, than trying to use pantomima gesture signs.

:) :) :)

This is the way that ALL Hellenic armed forces members, put under Oath faith in the homeland and declare they are willing to give their own blood and die for the Nation as soon as they join the Force or graduate their Academy. This is done by putting the three fingers (thumb, index finger and middle finger) together as one, pointing the sky. The three fingers move, represent faith to God, Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit as One.

http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/1696/triplecu0.jpg

The Oath given by ALL the Armed Forces members:

"In the name of the Holy and Consubstantial and Indivisible Trinity;
I Swear to be faithful to my Country,
obedience to the constitution, the Laws and the Legislation of the Nation.
Submission to my superiors,
to perform their commands promptly and without contradiction,
to defend with faith and devotion to the last drop of my blood our Flags, never to abandon them nor separate from them,
and to obey faithfully the military laws, and to perform as a faithful and honourable Soldier"

Because 98% of Greeks are Orthdox Christians, it is a tradition to put under Oath faith in the homeland that symbolic way (putting thumb, index finger and middle finger together as one, pointing the sky). It's a tradition deeply connected with the Hellenic culture. Very rarely some conscripts who do not wish so, can actually not follow the three-finger tradition. But they will be missing all the bonding with the rest of the team. Serving the Hellenic Nation streches out to the religion. Afterall, the national and army flags are very clear about this.

http://img378.imageshack.us/img378/5344/53298717df2.jpg http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/2478/66437088zn1.jpg

But just because Greece is (always was, always will be) a free civilized country and there is religion freedom, it is free for anyone who is not Christian to put under oath faith in the homeland, just by presenting right hand (like other countries). The recruits or inductees who officially declare they're not Christians, or that they're atheists, according to the Greek military Code, must give the respective reassurance instead of an Oath, "In the name of the Greek Flag" , using instead of "I swear" the phrase "I make an appeal to my honour and my conscience and I pledge to be faithful to my Country..." etc. Such category of people would not attend the ceremony, but they'd give their Oath separately.

For more infos, also click HERE (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=108120&highlight=Hellenic+assistance).

is that a grenade launcher on the Lee Enfield?

Yes, it appears to be a rifle-grenade launcher.

Nice to see someone still using the Enfields, they're good rifles. Looks like a No.3 Mk.1 in my opinion, but hard to tell.

It's probably nicked off the police forces.

I've seen pics of police on the subcontinent using modified Lee Enfields to fire CS or CN gas grenades (directly at protesters ). Perhaps it is a similar modification?

is that a grenade launcher on the Lee Enfield?

I'm not familiar with Brit grenade launchers from the period. Might that be a crude flash hider? The jungle carbine version was the only Enfield I've seen with one, and it was more conical than this.

Come on Sandman - captions, where are they? There is absolutely no point in posting images without information to say what they are, where they come from.

The woman in the lower image is holding what certainly appears to be a Lee Enfield No.III rifle, or perhaps one of its Indian derivatives.

Get captioning.
At this point I would like to ask a mod to please stablish once and for all (and enforce if case be) the rules about posting pics of guerrillas. Not that I care much about Nepalese internal affairs, but I would definitely hate to see the gates open for others, like FARC guerrilla pics.

Point taken.

In this case, i.e. the Nepalese Maoist forces, I had completely missed the point - they have now been removed as is normally the case with such images. Please continue to use the post report function to notify mods of such posts/images.

In a way, I do agree with that. But at the same time, doesn't the Geneva convention threat guerilla forces and regular forces the same?

I might be wrong, but I believe they would still be threated as POWs if they were captured. Why else would the US administration invent the term "Enemy Combattants".

So, even if we are to think of the issue as a technical one, guerilla forces would still be defined as millitary, or militia. They wear uniforms, they serve a cause and they have a military organization. I don't see the issue.

Then of course, it is the moderator who has the final word, but that doesn't mean we can have a sound debate around the issue, right? :)

Now, for some pics.

First of all, Norwegian Army:

Now, this girl's sitting on a 105mm HE gun, about the only effective artillery we had in 1940 when Gerry came to visit. We even used it against Pkfw 2s, with success. But that's more of a testiment to the weaknesses of the Panzerkampfwagen 2, than the gun. :)

Seems like they do. :) Aren't allways that reliable though, mate of mine once got sniffed out by customs at Værnes Airport near Trondheim, he was brought into a room by a customs officer with enourmous moustaches asking if he had anything, which he didn't have.

He's the last effing person to use drugs, he's to damned dull to do so. So am I, frankly.

Unless we regard moonshine as narcotics, which Norwegian law does, then I guess I am a drug user.

For what it is worth,,,that chap in the "suit" is our Foreign Affairs minister,, Alexander Downer,,, as can be seen in the photo, he has the personality of a dead wombat.

If the ALP wins the next election - we won't have a foreign minister visiting our troops in Iraq / Afghanistan, because there'll be no-one in Iraq / Afghanistan to visit.

why do i see so many woman wearing those? I'm not allowed to wear any jewelry. I don't think it fits in the military/police picture. But perhaps they only wear them at special occasions.

That's because some people like having something of an individuality even when in uniform, and I don't see the good case for not wearing discrete jewlery while on duty. I do agree they might not be such a good choice as long as you're in active duty, not good if someone you're trying to arrest rips up your ear. Mind you, any length of hair or a neck tie would to the same job.

Anyway, I don't see the problem, quite a lot of your don't think women fit in front line service anyway, be it in the police or in the armed forces.

And wearing jewlery does not make you a bad soldier or cop, I'll agree it does take away a small part of the uniformity, but you'de have to a be a true lover of regulations and a square thinker to care. It doesn't matter, the loss of uniformity is so small it's irrelevant. While we're at it, it's stupid saying someone is a disgrace if they have an extra button on their shirt open when they are serving their country. From some of the posts in this thread, one could be led to believe the majority of posters actually worked as high ranking desk officers in the armed forces.

My two cents.

First picture needs a little explaining. Even though she isnt in uniform I assure you she was US military. She was with a Utah National Guard MP unit at Camp Arifijan back in 2003 hence the crossed pistols tattoo. Second picture is of two girls I went to high school with. They were with an Indiana Guard signal battalion at Ramadi last year.30655

These are army issued trousers. I think a while ago the "low cut" was quite a controversy, I don't know what became of it...

I don't think the trousers come "low cut", I live in the center of Tel Aviv where there are many tailor shops in my area and i see female soldiers go there all the time to get their uniforms fixed in order to fit the latest fashions.
I think the army tried to battle this phenomena but gave up in the end.

as for the beer in uniforms thing, it's against the IDF's regulations to drink while in uniforms or while in duty.

although in reserves, after we finish training, the company sergeant sometimes arranges some beers before we go to sleep.

We used to finish a case a night when we were in Jump School at Tel Nof. Me or someone else would come in from TA in the morning with a fresh case, never got stopped or questioned. Tel Nof also had the only NCO's club I ever saw in the IDF.

PS: Sadly, this is another bad picture of a beautiful woman, the Australian Goddess of Nasiriyah. I've actually got a really good photo of her in uniform (before the Iraqi sun fried her face and hair) but it's a personal photo and I don't think she'd want it posted for all you sickos to download. The above photo, however, was taken off of the Australian Defence (sic) official website, and therefore free game.

The Seaman in the bottom picture is breaking a cardinal rule of firearms safety: "Never put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to fire."

She's an Avation Ordanceman Third class(E-4)..not a seamen..Big diffrence. as for the finger on the trigger...There may have been a dhow in the water..and afterall a dhow almost sank the USS Cole...

All depends on dog's guide reactions. The dog should trust him and treat a jump as a part of play.

Since it happened in Russia before, it could happen everywhere. Not necessarily connected to terrorism, but maybe to crime. In Frankfurt, there was a case some years ago when a bank robber took hostages in a Kindergarten on his getaway attempt.
