How is taught the military history of Russia before the revolution in Russian Military Academies ?
I know a Russian site with a very good (IMO) history of the russian navy, but is this history included in the traditions of the post soviet Russian Navy ? Are some ships named after pre-soviet heroes or battles ?
Same question about the army. There were so many great commanders (is Souvarov the only general to have given his name to a soviet academy?) and victories. Also many lessons to learn about strategy, tactics, composition of the army, ethics etc..
I know the current decorations follow the soviet tradition, with a return of religious values and traditional patriotism will the old medal of the ST GEORGE and ST ANN ?

It’s always been taught, even during the Soviet times, if that’s where you are getting at, and there always been ships named after “pre-soviet heroes”. Same with the Army.
St. George and St. Anna are Orders not medals. St. George Order was reestablished in 2000.

Suvorov, for one, has never been ignored by the Soviets as a true military hero of the nation.

Thank you both.
I knew about the School named after Suvorov, but was wondering if there were other institutions named after Valerian Madatov or Ivan Fyodorovich Paskevich (just as an exemple, I mean greats commanders of the times of the Empire)
Obviously branches like VDV or tanks have their heroes of the Great Partriotic War.

In France, institutions themselves are not given a man's name, but the buildings or the barracks yes.
