1st ID Soldiers Kill 6 Anti-Coalition Forces
TIKRIT, Iraq - Six anti-Coalition insurgents were killed when members of a 1st Infantry Division patrol returned fire after a series of attacks on them starting around 9:30 p.m. May 24.
The attacks included small arms fire, rocket propelled grenades, mortars and improvised explosive devices.
One Soldier was slightly wounded and returned to duty.
1st ID Soldiers Find Weapon Caches
TIKRIT, Iraq - Soldiers from the 1st Infantry Division found two weapon caches and were led to another cache by an Iraqi citizen May 24.
Around 10 a.m., Soldiers discovered about 100 munitions and a minefield near Kirkuk. Later, the Soldiers discovered another cache of mortar rounds, rockets, military communications equipment and an anti-aircraft weapon.
In addition, an Iraqi citizen turned in mortar rounds, fuses, and an anti-aircraft missile. He was rewarded with $600.
All the munitions were secured for destruction.
