My brother called in tonight at 9:00pm because he has a problem with spyware infested his PC, it took 1.5 hour for me to help him over the phone clean it all off. I love giving free labor  .

I alway give free tech support and free computer troubleshooting to family members and friends, but i'm going to start charging them from now on, $10/hour for family members and $20/hour for friends.

I'm so happy I'm no computer wiz for most of the time. I don't mind giving some friendly advice but I wouldn't really like having my parents calling every time their comp breaks down...which happens every other week...

I know the feeling; it's exactely the same here. Pisses you off at times because it takes up so much of your time.

Well I used to do tech support over the phone, nobody now gets any sorta help on computers without paying me first.

My friend wanted to get laid by this one chick, so he said he'd fix her computer and give her his while he was fixing hers. Well...that computer had nearly every version of the RCP virus there is, I think there was about 15 in the end. He spent two weeks daily getting off of work and trying to fix the thing, he couldnt do it (and was about to go nuts)...So he brought me in and for a small fee it was fixed and working that night

LOL I'm always getting rangled into this with family simply cause I'm the most PC savvy and that isn't saying much. I cleaned something called "Wild Tangent" off my Aunt's PC three weeks and and had to go back last week for the same thing. Not sure what website she's visiting and getting this, but it not what I want to be doing after work or on holidays.

Wild Tangent is a company that does flash games, for the web, and most IM's and music players. It's all so you can play little games while you listen to music and crap like that. and they in turn get to track your web surfing habits among other things.

for all Spyware I recomend using Ad-aware. cleans most spyware fast, and it is easy enough for even brain-dead computer users (like my sister) to use. One can obtain it HERE (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/)

It's one thing to track web use. Whatever this was, it was replicating itself and destroying key Windows files. Both times I had to reinstall Windows and then try and find all the files on the harddrive and referrences in the registry. I was using Ad-Aware to help.

I read somewhere that AIM version 5.5 loads Wild Tanget when you install.

Das ist Nicht gut!
I just disabled everything on my parents computer so they had to ask me before they installed anything :D
So far it has kept them Viris free....(Crosses fingers)

Got a solution to your PC problems folks, "do not run XP" run Linux, BSD or buy a Mac you will not regret it. :)

I skip dinner so I could work on my home wireless network and change all my CAT5 cable. What a pain in the ass.

I would never thought I can browse **** on my PDA.
It is true, wireless rocks!
