Hey guys,
I'm looking for a decent laser light module. Basicly a good torch with some kind of IR-laser/torch attatched that can be mounted on a picatinny rail.
I'm only finding one or the other at the moment, or military spec ones that I can't get my hands on so any help would be great.
Cheers!

well..i don't know what you can buy in England. but i'm a huge fan of the Streamlight TLR2. durable, bright and its a compact package...well semi-compact. i've dropped one from about 6 feet onto concrete and reattached it to a sig 220 and it still worked when i fired the gun.

Thanks for the help, is that an IR-laser though? Looking to use this thing with night vision you see.

it isn't. more research is needed on my part lol.

TLR-2 is sister model of TLR-1 with laser module, and I think it is also available as IR. And while I'm here, I want to put a good word for TLR too. I have the TLR-1, and so far I only have good experiences with it.
When looking into weaponlights, I strongly suggest you to buy a LED light (which TLR's also are) since they have superior battery performance and are not affected by cold weather (sub-zero temps) as much as traditional xenon bulbs are. There are also other makes and models out there, so do not take our word but study what is available.
Ps. after checking it out again, it seems like TLR2 is only available with 650-660nm wavelength (visible) only.

Found this,

the only place I could find selling it is in the US though

In April/May, Surefire is going to be releasing their answer to the Light/Laser package with the X400 Weaponlight.
I have no experience with the X-whatever series weaponlights from Surefire although I've been meaning to get one. If their anything like other surefire products I've used though, you might as well call them bulletproof in terms of quality and design.

Something to think of:
LED and IR-filter donīt work together with NVG.
If you are using NVG you should go with a incandescent light.

Or have IR illuminator...

AW:
"Something to think of: LED and IR-filter donīt work together with NVG."There are no filters for solid state LASERs. LASERs emit a single specific frequency of light. Filters only work with multispectral sources (like white light) where you can filter out a specific frequency band or bands, letting only a limited frequency range pass through.
IR LASER pointers are designed to work with NVDs. NVDs can see into the IR spectrum, while it is invisible to the human eye. That creates an 'invisible' targeting dot projected on targets denoting the point of bullet impact.
----------
"If you are using NVG you should go with a incandescent light."You cannot be serious. The whole idea of NVDs is to not use a light source. You either misspoke, or do not know of what you speak.

What SC appears to be looking for is not an IR illuminator, but a combo IR LASER aiming and white light illumination unit, like the Insight Tech unit below for the H&K SoCom pistol. That one runs about $1300 USD. They are not cheap. Since I do not have any experience using these devices, I cannot recommend one.

Iīm totally serious.
In my first post i was talking about that LED with an IR-filter donīt work together with an NVG/NVD.
Of course i assumed that everybody understood that i suggested an incan-light with a IR-filter to work with NVG/NVD.
Mea culpa.

No worries Adam, I got you at the first try, however I wasn't quite aware that LED doesn't cope with IR filter. Thanks! ;-)
