Hi all,
Me and my freinds are getting back into HL and I need some help. When Steam first came out I made an account for it using my current CD key using, an e-mail account that no longer exist and a username which I don't know anymore. This has led to me being unable to access Steam, which means I can't play :(
So I have a request, can I have someones CD key doesnt play anymore and never made a Steam account?
Thanks in Advance! :)

You can change the email that the HL account goes too.
I did this when Steam first came out. DoD is OK, but the rest of them bite.

I have some advice: don't support Valve and its crappy Steam service. Pirate HL2.

And how exactely is that gonna make you able to play CS & DoD again?!
BTW these days Steam actually ain't all that bad, especially since it makes it easy for both the developer and the user to update the game and get bugs and stuff fixed real quick.

I have heard about and experienced the Steam horrors. Any company that behaves in that way doesn't deserve any business. :cantbeli:

Jesus fvcking Christ, what's wrong with you fanboys? HL2 isn't in competition with Doom3 you know, you don't have to take every single opportunity to try to discredit Valve. Just remember that they're the ones who designed quite possibly the most efficient and stable game netcode yet to mention that the game is the most modded. They must be doing something right if it's still the most played multiplayer game in the world.
The advantage Steam gives is that it makes it much easier to update your game. These horror stories have passed since its original release. No, it's not great for people with very low bandwidth but if companies keep catering to people with 56K they're never going to be able to push the limits of MP games.

Heard and experienced? When? A year ago? Sure, it was ****ty in the past, but to be honest even I as an oldschooler have to admit that it's better than before now. Right now Steam is actually a huge plus to the whole 'Half-Life experience'.

I don't know why you mention DooM 3. The percentage of people on dialup are what, 50-70% of the online community? And Valve shoves 70-200mb worth of updates down your throat just to play CS? That's an asshole company treating the majority of its customers like trash.

The percentage of the community on dialup is NOT 50-70%. Perhaps that's statistically the total percentage of people on the internet, but the majority of gamers are on broadband nowadays. You don't have to download CS with Steam either. I never had to. Oftentimes they'll bundle their latest update to HL with CS but they never make it required, they'll always have it able to be downloaded separately.

Well I don't know if you've been keeping up with current events, but the people on dialup are a VERY small minority these days. Furthermore, would you say that a game can't be improved because some people have slow connections? Hey, too ****ing bad for them, but the majority would rather see improvement. Furthermore, last time I downloaded AA it was a huge d/l as well and I don't here you crying about that...

Unlike AA, I pay for HL and steam support. I'm treated like s*** as a customer as I'm on dialup. Valve doesn't even consider me as worthy of their respect or consideration in getting me the updates to HL or CS. I say f*** them. Pirate HL2.

Okay...so let's get this straight; you paid like..what...40 bucks? Right now we're 5 years past the release date, and they're still updating and supporting mods and all. No offense, but you dialup pussies can shove it where the sun doesn't shine. If dialup was the norm then internet would have never progressed past HTML. What's more, with dialup you can't even properly play the game in MP! (Yeah, I've done it in the past, and with pings around 200 you're always 2 steps behind...)
Oh, and guess what; I suppose you'd still be crying if they didn't support the game? But nooooo they DO support the game and come with new stuff and fixes and all...and then you're crying about having to download updates! For crying out loud, you sound like a little crying baby who complains that the newest games don't run on your old 486, and who demands that the software companies should make their stuff 486-compatible!
