What is the industry standart (in USA and Europe) for threads and needles for making equipment like vests/pouches/webbing, when you work with cordura 1000 and other standart materials?

I wouldn't trust most stuff being made from a simple home sewing machine. to have the strength needed to work with some of those materials properly to hold up for a good period of time, you'd need to go out and buy a industrail machine.

Stepan; I'm using a home machine on my stuff.
Yeoman, most stuff is made with #69 thread which works good on most good home machines.

D. Sigurdsson is correct, most manufacturers use #69 thread which is a nylon thread of good all round weight and strength for most jobs
As for needles really doesn't make a difference if it will work with above threadas long as the machine is set to handle it
My only concern about somebody making stuff at home is the quality of the end product, but if you have somebody with talent then go for it but I don't think alot of people realize the abuse that tactical gear can take, I would be more concernmed about what the gear is made of than the thread, I have seen tac vests made of cotten which will never stand up to most conditions
