Well, it may be good, but the bad side of it, is that mri machines aren't portable.

Wrong! Portable MRI's have been in use for some time now in Expeditions to scan for exampe Roots of tropic trees without removing them.
Slowly they find their use to medical applications too.

I didn't know that. I used to work in a research hospital, and we discussed how we could make a lot of money if we could put our existing 5 tesla machine in a truck. Then the discussion went to seeing if we could lift cars off the road because a MRI machine is essentially one giant magnet.
