Really? Wow -- our biggest was 28 inches. Fortunately, we caught our limit (2 per person, one for the boat for a total of 17). We were at 72A, near the mouth of the Potomac. 3 hour ride from Deale south.

One guy caught a state citation croaker -- 2.7 pounds..hehe

A dude from my town caught a 33in Rockfish (We call them stripers) in the river behind my house recently. The river is about 40 feet wide at the widest, he says that he's been doing it for years!! Go figure

Yeah, stripers or stripe bass are the best to catch. Once you get them in the summer, 'on the jumps', you can reel one in with every cast. ;)

Haha. Sometimes those tankers will come pretty close to the mouth of the South River. My friends and I sometimes take this old 11ft '74 Whaler and get insane air off thier wakes. It gets scary at times though.

When I moved to MD, I called them Striped Bass (Stripers). But when everybody else calls them Rockfish, I did too. Hehe.

Hey WolverineBlue, what did you use to catch your rockfish?

Rattletraps or what?

Stripers will generally be found in more open, cooler, and deeper waters. They put up the best fight, just fun to catch.

We used split shot, clams and fish...we chummed and drifted.
