Poll Finds Arabs Unfavorable of US

TEHRAN (FNA)- A poll released on Monday said eight out of 10 Arabs have an unfavorable view of the United States and only six percent believe the US troop build-up in Iraq in the past year has worked.

According to the poll conducted in some Arab countries, 83 percent of those polled have an unfavorable view of the United States and 70 percent have no confidence in the superpower.

As much as 61 percent of those polled believe Iraqis could bridge their differences if the United States pulled out its troops in Iraq. Only six percent believe the US troop build-up in Iraq has worked to reduce the conflicts in the country.

The poll was conducted over the past month in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates by the University of Maryland and Zogby International. About 4,000 people took part in the poll.

Moreover, the same poll showed that Arab nations believe Iran should be free to go on with its nuclear activities.

Results said that 67 percent of those polled in the Arab nations stressed Tehran's right to pursue a nuclear program and opposed international pressure against the Islamic Republic.

Some 44 percent of respondents said a nuclear Iran would be beneficial to the region.

Also according to the poll, a majority of Arab people do not consider Iran as a threat despite the attempts by the US to portray Iran as the enemy of Arab nations.

I have no doubt that Arabs have an unfavorable view of the US, but that they would have such a favorable view of Iran - that's where I have to call BS. Good try though Fars.

US or no US, Islamic republic or no islamic republic - Iran has few friends in the Arab world.

I've never really had much faith in polls, 4,000 out of potentially millions?

How many US citizens have a favourable view of Iran? How many US citizens believe Iraqi's could bridge their differences if the troops pullout? A percentage out of 250-300million Americans?

Never liked polls or stats, never will.

Yes but calling them arabs is a huge insult. Since i have no love for them, keep the mistake alive. Nothing Chapps Persian ass like calling it the arab Gulf.

Doesn't really surprise me. People's opinions are the result of their thinking processes - and lots of these folks have not benefited from anything resembling a proper education. Add to that the fact that they get their news from sources that most would consider laughable - and yeah, I'd expect them to think this way.

Every time Iranians listen to Muezzin calls on Arabic, they betray their own nature and heritage.Every time an Iranian calls his son Magometh instead of Artaxerx or Mithradates they betray their glorious history.Every time they use Arabic alphabet they spit on their proud roots.

I could care less whether they don't like us or not. What's new about it.
I see it mostly by what the politicians have done to represent us and actions they have taken to make this view the way it is.

That's all out of my control in most ways except for what I can do by vote and word in dealing with my politicians, but if they want to start stringing any politicians up by the tail and set them on fire that come over there to visit I'm not going to care one bit. The politicians here on a whole are worthless pieces of s**t and who's really gonna miss em. Not me. We'll probably have parties instead.

Bring it over here though to my streets, my family and friends and I got some 7.62x51mm and 12 gauge for dat az.rofl

After watching Irans views of what happened to us during 911, I dont agree with their weapons program. However I dont think they are a threat to anyone. Yeah you have all of this fiery rhetoric coming from there, but I was mooved by the nations simpathy for us during 911. People in iran really do like US citizens. The firebrands are not the majority view there. I think bush should take a trip there and have some friendly talks. It would get him much further then poking ribs.

Firebrands may not be the majority, but it is them who rule and its only them who are allowed to rule.

Do people really need a poll to come to the conclusion that Arabs are not fans of the US?

If we were actually popular with Muslim nations, then something would be terribly wrong in America.

Ummm, so what?

The West hasn't been what you would call "popular" there since before there was Islam. I bet if you did a poll back in the days of Alexander the Great they would have said "yup, not crazy about those western Greeks."

Albania is a muslim nation? Since when? There has never been a census and most (90+%) of the people in Albania dont give a flying fvck about religion. I can assure you on that because I've lived there for 19 years.

Has anyone taken a poll to see if Mullims are popular anywhere but in Arab Countries? They're certainly not too popular in the Netherlands or the UK where they've been demonstrating for Sharia Law to be enacted. I don't think they're too popular anywhere that Judiasm, Christianity, Bhuddism or any other religion, other than Islam is allowed to exist.

I do not want to go into a whole thing here but to those whom are religious in Albania islam is the dominant religion.Wiki and the CIA factbook as a few sources claim islam is by 70% the dominant religion. For Kosovo-Metohija Saudi funding of new places of worship is on the rise to say the least.

Well said those who are religious, meaning 5-10% of the population. CIA and wiki can say that they are 100% Budhist but that doesn't make it true. They "estimate" it based on a poll, not census, from before WWII.

Wait a minute, Arabs having a negative opinion towards the US has to do with them lacking an education and being misinformed by the media...NOT what's actually happening in the ME. Interesting stuff...

INAT:
"Well one nation that America is very very popular in is Albania and they are a muslim nation.Just saying...."I was a bit unclear. In general, the governments of Muslim nations pander to what is commonly referred to as 'the Arab street' (though Muslim non-Arab groups frequently subscribe to the same mindset). The predominant paradigms in that sphere are a deep-seated hatred for Israel combined with anti-Jewish racism; an overwhelming cultural inferiority complex, leading to a cult of false victimology; an extreme sensitivity to any criticism of Muslim culture or religious dogma; and an eagerness to embrace even the most ridiculous conspiracy theories, so long as they in any way assuage Muslims pride and reduce culpability for misdeeds committed by Muslims. I understand that this is an extremely broad generality, and as such has a lot of specific exceptions. I understand that the phrase 'Mulsim culture' covers a lot of diverse peoples with a lot of big cultural differences. But as a broad generality, this has repeatedly proven to be true in my observation.

So if America was persuing policies that garnered the hearty approval of such a mindset, we would be doing things that were fundamentally contrary to Western and American values and ideals, as well as contrary to the best interests of the citizens of the United States. I hope this is a little more lucid than my initial statement.
