Otto served on the eastern front as a PanzerJaeger (tank hunter) from June 1941 through the end of the war. His diary is presented along with text that he added recently. The photos show the harsh realities of war and its effect on the men who endure it. As you flip through the pages, you will notice a change in the faces of the men from excited youths out for adventure to hardened veterans grown tired.

Karl served in a Luftwaffe anti-aircraft artillery unit stationed in Alsas-Lorraine. His album stands in contrast to Otto's The photos show a gentle and sometimes boring life, but we are reminded that this is war with photos of Luftwaffe aircraft sorties leaving the airbase Karl was protecting.

oh ****, this is like the wet dream of anyone intersted in ww2.
I've never seen anything like it before, and i've never even imagined anyone had or would make a site like this.

By the way, does anyone know any good sites with ww2 movies, combat photage, historical recordings, propaganda. Anything.

Tonite i took about a half hour flipping through both my grandfather's scrapbooks from the war... i be honest i had to fight back tears looking at the pictures in there, and the things they wrote. touching stuff.

I haven't lost any of my army mates, but I know what you mean I look back at my school year book and there was this one chinese girl in my class who I knew for 4 years and she always wrote funny/nice stuff in my year book.
Then I found out after we graduated high school she was really ill and suddenly died, and she was probably the nicest person I knew and when I look at my year book I always feel all choked up when I read what she wrote to me.

Take care all.

Well, well http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15903
:D rofl.
Also saw those pics of the site owners uncle in that Luftwaffe flak-abteilung in Alsace, but thought the pictures of "Onkel Otto" would be more interesting for you folks.
Strange thing about those pics hadn't been posted before, since they've been available on the net since at least 1997.

And caption says it was taken (picture) in 1941... before land lease....

At the airport of Minsk, these planes were not able to leave the ground fast enough.

We went past Minsk, capitol of White Russia, to the Beresina River.

Minsk was taken in june 1941 and retaken in 1944... but captions says they were moving east so 1941... hmm did't know that SU used huricanes in 1941... not tu mention that there is quite high gras under wings so it looks like this plane was there for a while +striped parts probably used for replacement on other aircraft... I wonder how they got this huricane

Hurricanes were supplied to Russia in September 1941 - could it be this was a bomber escort shot down over Minsk ?
