Marines Deliver Donations, Discuss Construction with Iraqis
AL ANBAR PROVINCE, Iraq - Members of the I Marine Division recently delivered donations and discussed new construction projects with Iraqis in the Al Anbar province as part of their ongoing civil affairs efforts.
Marines delivered 20 sets of firefighting equipment donated by an American fire department to Iraqi firemen at the Nassir Al Salaam Fire Department. Marines also acquired about 70 wheelbarrows, shovel and picks for later distribution to Iraqis.
Marine Civil Affairs teams met with Iraqi officials near Ramadi to discuss construction of a water pumping station and water storage facility. The facility would deliver potable water to an area servicing about 1,000 homes that currently do not have access to clean drinking water. The project is estimated to start by the end of June.
