chris rock is the funniest man in the united states, perhaps even the world:

Rock references Sept. 11 only indirectly -- but effectively. He remarks on the patriotism that has surged during the war in Iraq. "You see these weird white guys getting overly patriotic, and they have their ****in' flag hats on, and their flag drawers, and their flag pickups. 'I'm American, man! I'm American! **** all these ****in' foreigners!' There was a lot of accepted racism when the war started. 'I'm American, man! I'm American! **** the French!' That was cool. Then 'I'm American, man! I'm American! **** all these Arabs!' And that was cool. Then they went to: 'I'm American! I'm American! **** all these illegal aliens!' Then I started listening, because I know that niggas and Jews is next."

reminds me of pastor niemöller's famous quote:

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

It's funny because it's true! As a white American, I hate everybody that doesn't look like me!

And it's true about speaking out for others...since America's military is oppressing terrorists, who among us will speak out for them?

Please people, lay off the terrorists! They have every right to live life their way, to pursue their goals without undue Western oppression. How dare we apply our cultural norms to them, how dare we oppress their religious glorification of justified holy retaliatory killing (was gonna say murder, but that's a no-no..we' mustn't judge). It's racism at its worst!

Well, I've got to return to oppressing the dark skinned peoples of the world, no time to chat.

So ure racist?? dont get it??

It's perfectly simple, if people would just take the time to review the many posts here by some of our more well informed members it will be perfectly clear that;

America is responsible for all evil in the world, whether by taking action, or failing to take that same action - it doesn't matter which.
America's evil is uniquely concentrated among it's white population - but only the men, because women are a dominated majority (classified as a minority) and therefore cannot be evil.

So, again, Earth=evilest planet supporting life (that we know of), America=evilest nation, white=evilest skin color, male=evilest gender.

So jeez yes, as a white American male, I'm the friggin' embodiment of evil itself - of course I'm a racist (also a murderer, usurper, and small minded wiper of other people's bottoms). I even hate myself - who the hell do I think I am 2Sheds, me friggin prick?! I'm gonna go sabotage my own career in an effort to tyrannize & dominate myself. I'll show me not to get all uppity.

1. Chris Rock is damned funny.

2. Nothing is sacred to Chris Rock. He will rip on everything and everybody. So today's target was flag waivers. Big deal. He once had a hilarious skit about how dumb Kosher foods laws were. I nearly pissed my pants laughing. But that doesn't mean he's anti-Semitic. Saying that he's anti-patriotic because of this monologue is like saying he hates African-Americans because of his "the difference between Black people and n-----s" monologue.

It's really just what's expected. White comedians are supposed to make fun of little quirks in behavior or pet-peeves while black comedians are supposed to make cracks at different races. It's just what people expect to see from them, unfortunately.

I was watching Anh Do talk about his worst stand up gig yesterday. He was at an RSL club (returned & services league) performing for about 500 WWII, Korea and Viet Nam Vets. He reckoned after five minutes of dead silence he decided to press at the exposed nerve and said something to the effect of "you blokes are all thinking that he looks like somebody who's shot at me before." They all burst out laughing and he got on with the show, no drama's.

I think everyone in Australia was shocked when he started showing up in mainstream movies.
We knew him best from various skit shows on TV, playing silly characters.

In an ironic twist, Mark Brandon Read (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0973692/), who was portrayed by Bana in the movie Chopper (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0221073/) (2000), has a small role in the film Trojan Warrior (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0313726/) (2002); which he plays a guy named "Erik Bana". This is not to be confused with Troy (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0332452/) (2004) which also stars Bana and features a Trojan horse.

You should see him in Chopper, probably his best role.

Eric Bana not only had his own (short lived) tv comedy show he also did regular skits on "Full Frontal" in the early 90's.

"The Eric Bana Show Live" (1997) TV Series
"Full Frontal" (1993-1996) TV Series
"Fast Forward Presents Full Frontal "

His most notable apperance in Full Frontal would have to be "Poiter" the bogan.

As a comedian, Bana is pretty good going his older work.

"Chopper", although not a comedy per-se (dark satire maybe?) is very funny and done extremely well by Bana if you have some idea as to the background of Mark "Chopper" Reid and his tall tales beforehand.

He made the point to me that "he is never hungry" see one day he sat down and ate "Two full meals" like two hot plates of food one lunch and one dinner.

I have serious issues with the Oscars ever since the '94 Forrest Gump / Shawshank Redemption debacle and the '97 Titanic / LA Confidential travesty.

They may as well just go ahead and change their name to The big self congratulatory wank-fest that lasts for three hours and has Billy Crystal boring the sh*t out of everyone, but that may be too long to fit on the screen.

ahem................ Dont forget the Canucks.........Myers, Carrie, Mercer, Red Green, John Candy, Dan Aykroyd, Tommy Chong, Dave Foley, Phil Hartman, Rich LIttle, Norm MacDonald, Howie Mandel, Martin Short, Bob and Doug McKenzie, and of course Lorne Michaels. Tough lineup to beat. SCTV, Red Green. Not mentioning Tom Green, sucking cow udders is not comedy.
Not to forget Ron James, freaking hilarious.

Have a listen.

As for Americans..... Robin Williams for improv, and George Carlin and Jon Stewart are in a league of their own for inteligent humour. Richard prior, Chris Rock and Chappell for life Humour, and not to forget Bill Cosby.

I like British comedy, but it's overated.

If we're talking about stand-up then it's American all the way. There are some good Aussie stand-ups out there. Brits pretty much suck at it, though. Canadians are only a bit better than the brits.

As far as stand-up comedian, I'll take an american over a brit but I prefer British sketch comedy to American.

I'd agree with that. There aren't too many good british stand ups, and most American sketches go on for way too long and aren't worth it. American shows would take a complete 5 minute sketch to tell the same joke that something like The day today, Alan Partridge or Monty Python would do in a sentence.

Whats that guy who used to be on late night on channel 4, he was dead right wing and would turn up at political press conferences to have a go at politicians especially the tories, his show involved some stand up, i used to enjoy that.

The king of stand up has to be billy connolly, first time you hear it is obviously the best.
We have this irish american commedian in ireland now aswell who has been stirring the **** of late, des bishop, he had a good show doing minimum wage jobs with foreign imigrants and seeing the reactions of irish people etc to them, does stand up aswell.
Cant think of any american commedians i like, robin williams too scripted.
And there used to be that commedy show on channel four where the commedians had to add lib topics they were given, some yanks on that, funny as fook.

You've got to be sh!tting me! You have to be thinking about someone else. I think he used cocaine during his earlier days because he gives the term "tangent" whole new meaning. There's nothing scripted about his stand-up.

I can't believe I missed Connolly from my list, or Eddie Izzard for that matter, it's hard to beat his level of surrealism.

For anyone who thinks they can't find a good American standup, find some Bill Hicks.... Quickly.

Parrot Sketch, Fish Dance, Lumberjack, Silly Walks, Argument...too many to mention. The Secret Policeman's Ball, for those who have not had the opportunity to see, has great live sketch comedy, mixed with great live musical performances by the like of Sting, Phil Collins, Clapton ect. Musical Highlight tough call between Sting singing "Message in a Bottle" and "Roxanne" alone witha guitar, or Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight".

They're Lou and Andy. The one in the wheelchair is Andy. I only know this becuase they are based on Lou Reed and Andy Warhol and the characters are carried over from an pld show they did called 'Rock profile'. It well worth checking out, bloody brilliant.

Black Adder and Allo Allo are great. And whats it called, keeping up appearances? is decently funny.

Mr. Bean is good, but it's getting old, even though i still laugh at the same episodes 10+ years after seeing them for the first time.

Absolutely Fabulous, Ab Fab, was great. Too bad they cut it.

Red Dwarf is touch and go, Porridge and Dad's Army are great.

"I have a cunning plan my lord"

"They don't like it up 'em you know, they don't like it up em!"

Oh god, the copper in Allo Allo is hilarious (to difficult to explain to those who haven't seen it).
