Ain't it damn fun to shoot birds and rats with em?...

I have buyed a rifle of 0.117 caliber with a muzzle velocity of 650f/sec
I havent really shot anything living with it yet so i wonder what kind of animals i should try to kill at..say 20-25 yards?

Should i even try to shoot a rabbit?

....Says the man who's never grown his own crops before to be eaten by rodents. Do you have a cherry tree in your yard? Do you know how bad starlings / robins can damage a farmers cherry out-put? What about a apple tree or a pear tree? Hell I used to have to chase racoons away from mine, big suckers too. Most farmers and fruit grower's use small caliber .177 pellet guns / rifles to scare / kill some animals from destroying there crops and not damaging there tree's too much.

I know I use my Co2 Rifle and Pistol to keep animals outta my tree's and others do to, I also used them to kill rats (which I was paid to do) at a recycling depot.

I bought a $20 chinese airgun and it was the best damn $20 I've ever spent. It weights at 8 pounds and feels like it was used to the train the PLA.

I shot a lizard in my backyard from 10 meters and hit it square in the head

Well M__S my muzzle velocity is quite limited due to government regulations. My gun is 495fps (mind you it is effected by weather, colder it is the slower it shoots the warmer it is it will shoot faster then 495fps) co2 rifle semi auto with a 12 shot clip and a 4x32 mm scope, I'd reccommend kill shots be as close as possible in any situation (for the animals sake). Id say about 30 feet with mine around 45 with yours (if you got a mount its a smart idea to mount a scope ..find something no bigger then 4x32mm it makes things quick and easy).

My co2 pistol is 430fps (again this may vary because of the weather), I have a laser aim unit mounted off of the trigger with a pressure pad mounted on the pistol grip. 8 shot semi auto clip system, which you can easily empty under 3 seconds.

they are made by crosman ..the offical name for my rifle is the 1077w .W='s Wood, I decided to go for the american "hardwood" version over the polymer 1077b (b='s black for plastic polymer). Ironically the polymer version weights more then the wood version, and the wood isnt the most "hard" you will find on the market. I wrapped mine in camoflauged tape which makes it look really awesome and prevents nicks n dings for future use. The American versions of these rifles easily run into the 650fps range, I think they have a "bigger nozzle" that allows more co2 to flow for when you shoot thus increasing the push and probably a slightly longer barrel to increase the accuracy.

For ammo go check out the Beeman .177 hollow points, they crush on impact and are made for hunting small game. Plus they are gold coated, which is kinda cool.

Considering that it was made in china i must say it was an excellent shot!

Keep the examples coming, 10m is too close, anyone killing with a rifle similar to the one i mentioned in the first post at a range of 20-25m?

Yea I had a "China Rifle" before, it was made by a company called "Arrow". Not even 1 word of english on the box, break barrel, shot really fast. I'm pretty sure it shot an easy 600fps, but this was back in the day before the government in Canada went all crazy over the gun laws. Too bad the chamber cracked in two, now its a dangerous piece of garbage which the only thing is re-useable is the woodstock and that im attempting to fit onto another air rifle and change the spring in it to increase the fps.

The hollow points have bad ballistics, you will deliver about the same amount of energy with a diablo round, with better accuracy.

Yea if your a good shot for sure, but it varies gun to gun. With a scope and a rest it would easily do it, its just a matter of having the scope sighted in that far accurately.

bad ballistics eh? Hmm thats something to think about because I always found that I'd always have to be a lil "closer" when taking some shots compared to other ammo. But it always dropped them usually... I guess you win some you lose some.

Never had any experience with the Diablo ammo, something to think about though for sure next time I'm buying ammo...hopefully they carry them up here in Canada.

How is the accuracy?

I have never fired a co2 rifle but a conventional rilfe should shoot 5 shot within a 30mm circle at 30m...(a rule that applies as 10mm from 10m etc)

Good, they are a joy to shoot. My co2 pistol is very loud, and looks very intimidating with the laser aim mounted on the trigger. My rifle is more quite (probably to do with the barrel length) and is very accurate especially with a scope or a red dot (I used to have a cheap crosman $20 dollar holosight and it was deadly!)

In the hands of someone whos an experienced shot you can do 30mm at 30 meters no problem. On an alive target I would probably want to be closer though because my version only shoots 495fps compared to the 600fps version in America (which would greatly increase the accuracy/distance and probably the noise of the gun when it fires)

I have a Falcon FN12SW and a Theoben Sirocco. Both are .177 and both are used with Crosman Premier pellets (7.9 gr). The Falcon throws out about 830 fps and the Theoben runs at around 800 fps.
