The voice on the tape could not be confirmed as Saddam's, but journalists familiar with the fallen dictator said it sounded like him. Al-Jazeera broadcast a tape on July 4 that CIA analysts said was "most likely" the voice of Saddam.

heh, excuse me if I'm not just a tad bit suspicious of these tapes. It's the same deal with Bin Laden. I've been saying he has been dead for almost a year now. Hell, we could have them for all we know, perhaps this is all Psyops.

With all the money Saddam and OBL supposely has? Can't these guys buy a video camera off ebay or AT LEAST buy a better quality audio cassette where we can actually make out what theyre saying?

Well, according to the Times the CIA said it was real - anyone else hear this?

Would you understand them, anyway? I haven't seen any of these tapes but I'd be really suprised if they were in english.
On a seperate note, I seriously doubt that the US has either of these two guys in custody - it would be too much of a "media relations win" to ignore. I think, unfortunately, that they are both still "at large".

"It actually sounds like a page out of the bin Laden book. If people don't show up for a while, they're dead. But if nothing else, by putting Saddam tapes out, it antagonizes (the Bush administration) and keeps alive the idea of Arab defiance of the overwhelming force of the U.S. military."
