Hi there,
Has any one got an idea of the torque to be applied to tighten LaRue Tactical scope rings?
System is as follows:
SIG 551-2 LB 5.56x45 NATO
Schmidt & Bender 1.1-4x20 Short Dot CQB
LaRue Tactical SPR 1.5 scope mount
Thanks
Darimian
Hand tighten and a bit more. Dont forget the little locktite vial.
10-20 inch pounds if you want numbers.

Sounds like a pretty penny, let us know how accurate the sig is once its dialed in.

Oh I can tell you it is already fantastically accurate with the built-in iron sights at 100 m! Position was lying, without bipod, slow shooting.
The barrel is just like a P210 one, that is, whatever you feed the gun with, it "screws" the bullet through the rifling with only marginal differences in grouping and almost equal precision: I have to say though I only used factory ammunition with bullet weight between 62 and 69 gr, FMJ, HP and/or boat tail type.
The S&B scope should add more precision and consistency as well as tighter groups, I guess.
FYI just took a picture of my very first target when I was sighting in the carbine :-)
These were 4 times 5 shots, with a flyer just below the "1" in the date.
So I guess the photo is self explanatory, I first shot too much left and down, then too much right and still down, and I came back to center and up. I have to confess the bullseye shot was not the 20th shot ;-) I am not that good - yet - Ha, ha, ha...:-D

A few Sig owners and Collectors might not mind seeing that, as would myself.

By the way...
eMailed LaRue and got the following reply:
Quote:
We recommend 35-40 Inch/Pounds of torque on the ring screws of our SPR mounts. Yes, the bottom screws need to be tightened completely before the top screws are tightened.

Thanks to LaRue for their great products and customer service!
