Forgive my ignorance but how come anti-terrorist forces wear black / dark blue vests during hostage rescues? (iranian embassy)? How come they are ideal in urban areas since they look as appealing as woodland camo

my friend said because they are police forces, however SAS aren't police forces and they still dress in black during the iranian embassy siege

and can someone tell me the purpose of their "gas mask looking" masks for the SAS? are those for preventing poison gas / smoke from fire? what or concealing their identities

sorry for being such a noob!

Camouflage is used so the enemy cannot see you, the SAS were in and out in 2 minutes and were engaging them within a building, by the time terrorist saw them, they were on the floor.

Gas masks are for protecting themselves from...... wait for it...... Gas!
You really could have found this out from somewhere else though

Black and dark blue are like you said dark. They are used for the psychological effect.

Tactical Units arent gonna stom a building dressed in pink, it would look stupid. Doesnt mean they couldnt win, they'd just look stupid.

Same reason military and law enforcement personnel are vert physical and yell a lot during the apprehention of a suspect, its here to shock the perp.

Church I have to say, it would be more of a shock to my system to see a Tact team storm a building in pink, rather then darker more common colors.
