Theres a spec there for equipping them with night vision, wonder what gen they'll get.. lets hope old gen hand-me-downs, if they get the latest (3+?) you're idiots.

No way will they give half that stuff to the Iraqis, or any other untrustworthy country. M1a1s maybe, old F-16s and F-15s, probably Cobras in place of Apaches, etc.
JESUS... they have a better armed forces then Canada :D
Yeah I agree it's stupid giving them so much advanced equipment.

500 M1A2s is just stupid.
I'm not even sure there are 500 M1A2s in all of Iraq right now.

i wasn't starting anything. It was the same post as above. But I guess when I hist submit it didn't work. Why would the US pay for all that equipment? If they export and sell their oil they can buy it. Just like kuwait and saudi arabia.

Doesn't sound smart to give so much military stuff. The us has a record of arming it's own enemy's, so let's hope that the iraqi's won't misuse it.

I'm not sure if it is right to give so much weapons all of the sudden. Remember Iran back in the 70's? The U.S. sold so much high tech weapons to the Shah regime at the time, but in 1979 all of the sudden the regime is toppled and replaced by Ayatollah Khomeni's radical fundementalist regime, and then they use the same weapons against the United States and then Iraq.
What about the infantry small arms? Will the new Iraqi army still be using the AK series rifles?

There's some pretty wierd and stupid equipment (IMO) in there...
50 MLRS' ? There damn expensive to use, need allot of training, and who are they going to defend against them with?
Mortars are commonly used weapons for harrasing attacks ATM, yet they give them 600 of them..... I would give them truck towed arty and such, as you can find and stop any that get into the wrong hands easier...
50 AH-64's, there being delivered with Elvis to run a USO show there?

Yep, and that site says they'll be using PKMs as well. No point retraining them to use a weapon thats *probably, no flames intended* better suited for desert warefare anyway.
That's a complete s**tload of advanced equipment, I must say I am surprised. M1A2? MRLS? Apaches? Russian equipment would give the Iraqi army much more bang for their buck, be easier to use, plus they have experience with it. Well, it's still the Americans that are buying it to the Iraqis with Iraqi money, I don't think they had that much of a say in the matter. ;)
The amount of training and maintenance required for these weapons systems will make the Iraqi Army dependent on the U.S for quite a while, unlike Russian armament.
PC- 1 Cyclone 30
I thought the USCG was getting the entire class?

I think they should buy Russian equipment for it is cheaper.

They will be using mainly non US equipment like AK, PK, and heavy equipment isd yet to be determined but this list only show classes of equipment not actual types... Abrams is shown as an example of modern tank m-60 as exaple of older one... etc..
