What I want to know is how the US is more peaceful than Russia...I would think relatively recent events prove otherwise....
nonetheless both are continuing proud traditionsp-)

Yes, they are. The last time Syria was in a war was in 1982.

Apparently 7 out of 10 camels found syria to be a more loving environment.

What indicators would you use to measure peace? Looks relatively solid to me, one would have to keep a good look at how they weight it.

Keep in mind that such lists are never to be taken alone and they are not a competition nor a comment on the actual implications. Lists are just data, context comes from interpretation.

And which countries/organisations keep bombing people in Syria and Iran or keep shooting rockets at the place? Remember that the peacefulness of a country can be spoiled by it's neighbours alone..

If I kept shelling Iceland, it would not be a very peaceful country, would it?

tsuri pretty much covered my view on this.

I've yet to see a funnier list, we got a level 4 in Human Rights that goes as following:
Level 3. Imprisonment for political activity is more extensive. Politically-motivated executions or other political murders and brutality are common. Unlimited detention, with or without a trial, for political views is also commonplace;
- Level 4. The practices of level 3 affect a larger portion of the population and murders, disappearances and torture are a common part of life. In spite of its pervasiveness, on this level political terror affects those who interest themselves in politics;

I guess I missed all that during my life here.

P.S. only Israel and the US are ranked 5 in military capability/sophistication.

The meaning of the index’s title doesn’t suit it’s content.

Heaven help me, but I actually laughed at that. That is literally out-of-this-world retarded. Unless of course, the people who put this list together included Paleosimians as part of Israel. If so, then it makes sense.

Japan was ranked 5th aswell.

These lists are made up by stoned hippies who don't have a life or a real job, so they make lists all day.

haha, gotta love that rating with the majority of the top places fighting wars far away from their lands where they have no business to start with.

I mean, come on, US of A is 97 and it started 3 wars in the last 10 years, while Russia which successfully defended its territorial integrity is 131.

I am not talking about Ukraine (84). We are about as peaceful as one can get with the army and navy quickly crumbling and yet we are that low?
